Honestly I can see why people think this, the beats were a lil better and commercial friendly on rtd, but lyrically and as a whole it just wasn't fuckin wit illmatic IMO. But ny state of mind and one love is two of my fav tracks of all time.

Ready to Die and Illmatic are my 2 favorite hip-hop albums. I think its a toss up of which album is better, but if you think RTD is better I won't disagree with you.

Listen to tracks like "Everyday Struggle", "Warning", and "Unbelievable". Biggie is almost as good a lyricst as Nas (THE GOAT lyricist IMO) and has a better flow to compensate for it.

Nas might be a better artist, but I think Biggie was the better rapper. Listening to tracks like "Everyday Struggle", "Unbelievable", "Warning", "Party and Bullshit", this album is timeless. "Illmatic" sounds dated as fuck.

I don't think its a reach at all. Nas is a better lyricist but Biggie had better flow and delivery. Listen to a track like "NOTORIOUS Thugs" and ask yourself if Nas could attempt that type of flow.

on notorious thugs wasn't even technically sound
the rhymes did'nt even match up with the bars

Nas sounds awkward as hell when he speeds up his flows. I know I'm not the only one that wasn't impressed by his flow on "Hero"

nas could switch his flow if he want too. i can't post the song cuz im not on a computer. listen to "big things". nas did the fast flow better imo.

The production on RTD wasn't necessarily better. In fact, a lot of the production was lazy. The best produced song on RTD was" Unbelievable" and ironically that was lyrically the weakest song on the album. I think RTD is definitely classic status, but better than illmatic.... hell no.

Illmatic embodied the hood as a whole whereas RTD kind of focused on the negativity and criminal essence alone. Biggie used a lot of Nas' style as far as shock value & so-called "slap boxing with jesus" shock effect on some songs. It's natural that theses two albums will compared considering that both of these artists were in the same class at the same time & both artists carried their respective albums by themselves.

At the end of it all, it just comes down to opinion, you can't go wrong either way.
