Slim Calhoun ft. Andre 3000 - It's Ok

Swishahouse - Still Tippin' (ft. Mike Jones, Slim Thug & Paul Wall)

^^^yes this their biggest & only hit solo or otherwise..

wrong mike jones had back then which was a hit also

he's talking about the group Swishahouse. I didn't even know they were a group. I thought it was just one of them featuring the other two.

hey dummy your confusing someone who's a cultural icon with hits...totally different stuff, but your education level doesn't allow you to recognize

taken from billboard.com:

They never had a mainstream hit of their own, but during rap's so-called golden age in the late '80s, Eric B. & Rakim were almost universally recognized as the premier DJ/MC team in all of hip-hop. Not only was their chemistry superb, but individually, each represented the absolute state of the art in their respective skills.

The argument is not "who literally had only one top 40 pop chart single?"

Its "who was a one -hit wonder?"

Some of you guys are equating those two statements knowing they are not equal. Words have meaning and sometimes the combination of more that one word is larger than sum of their parts.

One hit wonder is one such term. It means more than literally "one big hit" it has gone on to represent a type of artist, typically a flash in the pain artist thats whole basic contribution to the whole of national music landscape was ONE very extremely popular song that pretty much put them on the map and took em off as soon as the song was gone from the public mindstate.

Rakim, krs one, jimi hendrix, grateful dead, radiohead, etc are not artists that qualify for that category even though they may have only had one top 40 hit their entire career.

You the type guys that drive yourself crazy trying to figure out how come the hamburger doesnt have ham on it. Everyone on allhiphop.com knows what the term means and we all know rakim and public enemy arent one hit wonders, so why the trolling?

Guys like rob base may be on the borderline, and those are ones we can debate...

But fuck outta here putting up big daddy kane and public enemy, that just turns this discussion all kinda stupid ways.

stop that

seems like your having a hard time understanding what a one hit wonder is:

A one-hit wonder is a person or act known mainly for only a single success.

The term is most often used to describe music performers with only one hit single or for having one signature song which overshadows their other work

longevity doesn't excuse you for still being a one hit wonder, one could argue that rakim is a no hit wonder since the masses never really cared about him

I wouldn't consider So Whatcha Saying a "hit" but I remember when it was out.

You guys are making revisionist history. Just because a song was hot in Hip Hop circles doesn't make it a "hit".

It takes Two - Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock

Walk This Way - Run DMC

Push It - Salt N Pepa

U Can't Touch This - MC Hammer

Just a friend - Biz Markie

^^^^ Those were hits during an era when Top 40 stations generally didn't play rap music.
