Exactly.

If I were to judge who was the best coach over the course of a season Id factor in intangibles like:

Win/Loss record (road record especially)(SOS)
T/O differential
Improvement from the previous season
Coaching through injuries and other adversities

...and overall being able to maximize the talents of your squad.

I think what makes Raheem a prime candidate is that he had first and second year players at almost all the skill positions (Q.B., R.B., W.R.) and they all excelled Blount ran for 1000 yards, Mike Williams is rookie of the year with 1000 receiving yards and Josh Freeman is in the top ten for Q.B. rating.

Their 17th ranked defense is neck-in-neck with the Atlanta Falcons defense.

I think as a team the Bucs exceeded all expectations especially in a division with ATL & N.O.!

This is easier when you suck the year b4 and get high draft picks. BB had to rebuild a defense, pick the players since he lost Scott pioli and then he doesnt even have official Coordinators on both sides of the ball....Morris just used what was handed to him....And he actually WON the division. Its a regular season award. Give it to the best coach of the regular season

Sorry weirdo if I was mad Id type a 200 word essay about myself in a football thread.

If I was a pathetic excuse for a human being Id enter a football thread and call a non-muslim a "muslim activist".
If I was a lonely bi-sexual bitch Id be flirting with H-Rap and attempting to decipher his screen-name on some homo-ish.

WTF is a revolutionary?? Sounds like a corny term used by lames when they wanna label people that have a fuck-you mentality.

The fact that you aint networking means you have 900 worthless posts while me and my brethren are putting bizness in motion.

And Morris used what was handed to him? You sound dumb

Its not too difficult to rebuild when you have a Hall-of Fame QB thats been in your system for ten years and won multiple superbowls with you and a pro-bowl O-line.

LOL, Offensive coordinator on a Bellicheck/Brady team is a ghost-job...honestly.

Last year the Bucs drafted Williams(Wr), Benn(Wr), and McCoy(DT), two receivers and two tackles...and a CB I think

They went from having the last ranked run defense to having the 28th ranked defense and the 23rd ranked offense improved to 8th!

I cant think of any other coach that got more out of his players.

So he didnt use what was handed to him? Didnt know he was the GM too. (Do you even know who he is?) He didnt pick any of those players...And picking in the mid to late first round for 5 years and still having a top 5 draft class says alot. AND Belichick made all those trades himself to get those pics. Mr. Morris sat in the background.

A coach who actually has total control of the franchise and makes all the decisions and actually makes the playoffs>>>>>>>>>>A coach who coached up high draft picks ( they should be good) but didnt pick his coordinators and got 10 wins for absolutely nothing other than to keep his job...Niggas HATED R. Morris last year.

Not doubting that, but please tell me what that has gotten them this year other that a worse draft positon? It sure didnt get to the playoffs.
Whats up with all these moral victories in a league known to can coaches year to year?

I dont believe in moral victories.

I look at a 10 win team that only won 3 games last year.

The Bucs missed the playoffs at 10-6 while the Seahawks made the playoffs at 7-9 including a loss to the Bucs.

Did you expect a 3-13 team to make the playoffs in the NFC while being in the same division as Atlanta(12-4) and New-Orlenas (11-5)????

A coach should be judged on his ability to maxamize the talents of his team, if you have the youngest team in the league with the lowest payroll and you still amass 10 wins and miss the playoffs by 1/2 a games you have excelled beyond expectations.

Give a coach a veteran Q.B. and a healthy payroll and see how many wins he can rack up...Dallas?? Cincy?? Giants?? Vikings??

I see alot of y'all have no idea what C.O.Y means. It ain't about who the best coach in the league is, it's about which coach exceeded expectations of their team the most. That's what it's always been.

Well when you say maximize talent, shouldn't you at least achieve something with that season? I know they were 3-13, but what do they have to show for it exactly? If thats the case Tom Cable went undefeated in his division, but would you consider him? The Rams had the number one pick and missed the playoffs by a game, but is steve spagnolo C.O.Y? He maximized the hell out of nothing. Im not downplaying the coaching job he did, but hes THIRD BEST in his own division, let alone his conference. But the seeding debate is another matter. Maybe if they werent 4-4 at home....they lost to the Lions for gods sake. You should be better after year after year of hgh draft picks. BB is more impressive from the stand point he has alot more responsibilty other than just coaching. But its the C.O.Y award...Whos maxamizing the talent they have more if they are winning 14 games with a bunch of low round pics and free agents nobody wanted? Kyle arrington, wes welker, Bejarvis green ellis, danny woodhead?? Rob Nikovich?? all undrafted. Tom brady, sixth round. Dan koppen 5th round. And they got rid of randy moss. They had their first pick at 27th overall Devin McCourty. Thats more impressive than high pick rookies contributing. They are supposed to be more talented. I like J. Freeman, but was a high first round pick. The Highest pick on the entire pats team is Brandon meriwether i believe

3rd in the division behind ATL and New Orleans two teams that have a combined record of 24-8, Pro-bowl Q.B.s and top 10 defenses.

Tom Cable finished the year at .500 8-8 improving on last years win total by 3 games but he was fired because his team lost 6 AFC games and were 3-5 on the road.

Steve Spagnola finished the season with a losing record 7-9 and a road record of 2-6 in addition to losing to the Seahawks when the chips were on the line (Raheem Morris out-coached Spagnola in a week 7 victory).

Your examples are poor you should at least use coaches that have winning records or improved their teams by 5 wins or more from the previous season.
