There's plenty of rappers I may be able to relate to that absolutely suck. Personally I don't factor in who I can relate to more when it comes to who I enjoy listening to. Rap is entertainment. Eminem rapping about raping and cutting girls heads off is really no different than watching a horror movie with the same shit in it.

I'm sure plenty of ppl enjoy movies and watch shit on the internet and get some enjoyyment out of worse things than what Eminem puts in rhyme. And just ccause Em decides to put it in rhyme, does it make it less acceptable?

To each his own tho, I think the whole "who I can relate to" argument is overrated.

The difference between music and movies is that movies are intentionally fabricated, for characters. Immersing yourself into a role is the basis of a film. Music? Not so much. If Eminem felt compelled to create characters, then I think he's in the wrong field. We don't listen to music to be entertained by characters; that's why we go to the movies. Music is an entirely different arena, altogether.

The idea that "rap is entertainment" is dismissive. People use this excuse to justify Soulja Boy's greatness, or Gucci Mane's greatness..."well, they have hot beats and their music is entertaining." We can do better than this, folks.

I think ur just taking it too serious. There's good rappers I can listen to if I wanna be inspired, or if I wanna listen to a good rapper I can relate to, I will do so. We all have the choice.

Eminem has more than enough tracks where many ppl can relate to where he doesn't come off as a "character". obviously the tracks where he says the wild shit get more burn. Its entertaining.

Nas had his "esco" character, Hov "shot" plenty of ppl in his earlier rhymes, so did Biggie. We can find plenty of hip hop greats who came off as a "character" on several occassions, Em just has his own way so it shouldn't be a reason to knock himfor it.

With regards to Gucci and Soulja Boy I can care less, them niggas is wack they don't deserve a rating anyway I think we both can agree to that.
