Quoted and bolded for emphasis. That's the WOAT. It's like....damn people is it against the law to question things? Is there even a teeny tiny chance that the people who raised you didn't know what the hell they were talking about because they too were relying on the blind faith passed down to them by others who accepted things w/ blind faith? There is so much mis-information in our communities and muffugas be scared to question shit or go against the popular opinion for fear of being ridiculed and ostracized.

Yea shit's ridiculous. I really think the Bible is just one big tall tale that's been passed down from one generation to another. So now it's just engraved in the minds of Black people that Christianity is the one and only absolute truth. Even from a very young age, I was always skeptical of Christianity and its messages. SMFH @ the m'fuccas who use stupid logic when you tell them you're an atheist/agnostic. Conversation usually goes like:

Them: You don't believe in God?

Me: No

Them: *gasps* Ok, how do you think you wake up every morning then?

LMFAO @ that retarded reasoning.

Black churches were in many ways the infrastructural foundation for the civil rights movement and black nationalism was largely rooted in religious silliness too. So I think it's hard for the black academics, activists, and politicians to embrace secularism even if its in the best interests of the black community, since they themselves were so invested in what were in part religious movements. I mean look at the luminary popular intellectuals, the movement leaders, even the President, these guys are always speaking in the language of religion, hell half of them are reverends... in a lot of ways religion is the thing that bridges the cultural gap between everyday blacks and their representatives in the public sphere.

As long as black people put a bible before a dictionary we will continue to be lost and clueless, i've been saying for the longest black people are over fucking religious and don't embrace education and self empowerment. I guess religion is just the easy cop out, it's like drugs, it gives temporary fix but doesn't solve real issues. I have said and will continue to say education is everything and it's the only way to narrow the disparages between the race and classes, you sit there thinking Jesus is gonna come help your ass you already lost.

I think a big part of the reason why people look down on education so much is because it's not instant gratification and it takes discipline and work.

As for how school funding is set up, it don't necessarily think it's racist per se because there are plenty of poor ass rural areas in this country where white kids drop out of school. I think it's more of a class, socio economic issue more than anything!

This post is heavy with truth. I tell ppl this all the time. The only reason I watch the news, is to get references to think tanks so I can personally look at their information. This way I can formulate my own opinion and not a partisan one.

That shit right there is WOAT. I rarely even discuss religion with other black folks cuz I always hear the same ig'nant mess. Most Black people can't even formulate a valid reason why they're Christian except "It's how I was raised".

Very very true. I can't "intellectually condemn" ppl raised in the past who were raised in the church/civil rights movement. But I can intellectually condemn those that refuse to believe there is any other way besides how it was done in the past.

Why are predominately Black areas poor? Is poverty a set fixture? If the tax dollars fund the school and fund the programs that help the poor (help them stay poor) what does that say about the higher classes?

I know right The majority of my neighbors are black and none are poor.

why do ppl feel like they are entitled to economic equality.

all the constitution says that you are entitled to equal treatment in regards to the law.
for say like jail time and property right and civil rights. just because a white kid goes to 100,000 school
doesnt mean u have a right to a 100,000 dollar school alot of ppl misinterept the constitution. that like saying just because
a white kid has the iphone 5 and a blk kid has the iphone 4 the government should step in.

now i am a liberal and do believe in social programs, because it make society a whole
more stable but not because housing ,education etc are RIGHTS.

I understand you, but to be honest black people and religion is crazy, we know more about the bible than our own history, now to me that's messed up

It is not just black people. Last time you seen a african american run up in a building strapped with explosives helling "God is good!"
People reply "All the time!"
Bomber "All the time!"
People reply "God is good!"
Bomber blows himself up.

Never happen! (The bomb part)

The fourteenth amendment guarantees equal protection under the law. Since local municipalities are charters of states, all their governing bodies are required to adhere to the 14th amendments. It's the same amendment that the civil rights act and the disabilities act are wrapped around. The moment it became a law to attend school, and the moment schools became an institution sanctioned by government, it became subject to the fourteenth amendment. Ergo, one cannot give a better opportunity to a kid in the suburbs over a kid in the city(these are just examples). Equal protection under the law, mane.

I'm sure if I consulted my pocket constitution I can find more legal doctrine, but you get the point I'm making.

protection means you rights are protected, meaning the cops have to enforce laws equally.

there is nothing about economic equality in there. if thats the case since car insurance is mandated

by the state everybody should have4 same quality auto plan. the constitution does not say anything

about education housing and healthcare

I am with Lorenzo on the black community doing shit wrong. The first thing that needs to be worked on is undoing the concentration of poverty and they need to stop waiting on the federal government for shit.

That was such a bad example with the car insurance. States mandate you have a minimum level of insurance, anything after that is up to you. That's why you get fined if you get caught driving without insurance.

And the course don't say anything about education, but education became a state/nationally funded mandate it fell under the fourteenth amendment. I don't really understand what kind of argument you're trying to make here.

education is handled through the state and local communities the funds generated

in those communities go to their school. you dro not have a right to those funds.

just because school is mandated by the government does not mean every school has to be

equal in financial quality, everyone has a right to medical attention in an accident or police

in a crime situation, but that does not mean that the cops or medical personel will be equal stature

a poor kid in baltimore does not have a right to the funds from a rich kid in connecticut.

and true equality is impossible the fall of communism proves that. you can close the gap like

they do in some european countries, but true equality is imposibles because some ppl are inherently inferior to others.

Very true post.
In my opinion, it for the most part boils down to education/instant gratification as you said and fear.
Fear is the best way to control masses of people and "keep them in their place".

You correct a child through punishment (whipping, taking toys away)
You correct an adult through fear (death, rap3, beatings, taking away freedom, loneliness).
In the back of our minds we all know we have to die (we SEE that every day), so to threaten your "eternal soul" (beyond death) with fire and "burning forever" is fear on a whole nother level.

The fear was learned and perpetuated throughout generations. Things were set in motion centuries ago and now black people are on self destructive remote control.

Religions that embrace death are deemed idiotic in western society. People who welcome death for there causes are deemed crazy. Because they aren't ingrained with that perpetuated "fear".

At religeous and government levels, fear has to be maintained to control society. Shoot a average joe, get an average sentence, shoot a cop, you get killed.

We need to stop calling most black communities poor. There's money there. Look at the nice clothes, cars, tv's and what not. Go into a "poor" school and count the jordan's. The money mentality is fucked up. The out look on life is fucked up. The priorities are fucked up. When I was in 12th grade in knew I had close if not more money than my teachers but only for a short period of time. They was trying to teach me longevity. I wanted instant right now money really for no reason other than to spend it on bullshit.

This is also true. There's a lot of money in the Black community, it's just that we're not unified enough to spend it in the right ways. Very sad.......too many Blacks would rather spend money on Jordans and the flyest clothes instead of Hooked On Phonics or math and science programs. Too man of us want to be Lebron or Big L, not enough of us want to be the local Black doctor, teacher, or dentist.
