Because...there were black people part of the Moor armies. However there are a variety of moor flags including flags that have black as in the color black heads but depict less...sub-subharan african features. However the architecture, language and culture that was inherited in Spain for example show more Arabic influences to a significant degree more so than any other culture. Funny you say that cuz a study I read awhile ago says that African Americans are more likely to have European ancestry than Native American. Which makes sense seeing as how Native Americans live in isolated conditions.

The majority of art for example from the Moors rule depicts them more as arabic than black africans like most people think. You can find more quantity of art that show moors as arab than black. Also, what you said makes no sense. If black africans made up the most of Moorish armies wouldn't common sense tell you that black african culture would predominate and not Arabic. I never said blacks were not part of the Moorish armies but pseudo-historians/afro-centrics like to bend the truth for their own gains and overstate that fact to the point where arabic and berber existence among the moors is completely dismissed or ignored. Simply not true and saying otherwise is sincere dishonesty.

Everyone doesn't want to be Black (in either context). Most of the people who think this are Black.

I've never understood why people consider Italians to be people of color (let alone Black). They look no differently than any other group of White people. There are plenty of pale skinned Italians with blue eyes and blond hair and plenty of English, Scottish, Swedish etc. White people with tanned skin and dark features. I had a college professor who claimed that Italians were people of color and Asians were White. lol. I've never heard of an Italian who claimed to be anything other than White.

Most Italians don't have Moor ancestry and even if they did they would still descend primarily from indigenous Europeans. The Moors were Arabized Berbers, the only Black Moors were descended from sub-saharan African slaves.

People should be free to identify themselves however they want to, though.

Just because they were discriminated against doesn't mean that they were considered Black. The fact that most/many of them were Catholic, uneducated, poor, criminals etc. had a lot to do with it.

it bugs me that a lot of black folks refuse to accept me as mixed even though I'm a card carrying tribal member with a tribal roll number to boot.
