Hiphop is the most disrespected Genre and rightfully so. So my question to yall hiphop heads why is it that Hiphop as a culture/genre aint taken seriously as other Genres like RnB,Soul,Rock n Roll,Pop?
I Love the culture, i still defend it but not like i used to before. Hiphop has the most fickle fans and anyone sayin otherwise is in denial.
Music Deities from other Genres like Michael Jackson,Marvin Gaye,Bob Marley,Hendrix are revered and millions still appreciate the music that they left for us. These legends loved they art, they sold out stadiums all over the universe, they made millions of dollars doing what they wuz passionate bout. But in hiphop legendary emcees are having a difficulty in selling out auditoriums, some are livin broke and others died broke. Krs 0ne,Rakim,Kool G Rap aint appreciated by the masses, theyre looked down upon. In this forum threads praisin wack emcees like weezy,eminem and 50 are made everyday but none of us have taken some time to pay homage to the founders/pioneers of this beautiful culture.
Bob Marley,Marvin Gay kept it real wit they conscious political music since they stated but in hiphop we hav witnessed groups like NWA and Public Enemy who came into the game wit politically charged albums but 10 years later they changed they message or content. thats jus laughable. Look @ Flavor Flav? How bout Dre? Ice Cube? Some of us will say that people grow up, but the marleys,gaye's dint change the subject matter of they music when they stated sellin millions of records and makin millions of dollars...I applaud the few who hav never strayed away from they message like Krs one,Pac,Rakim,Nas,Talib,Mosdef,Common etc and many more
Its only in hiphop where famous DJs like Funk master flex can have the nerve to call out a muscal genius and the best poet hiphop ever witnessed,Pac and try to discredit and downplay his influence. Instead of crowning Pac as the GOAT, some ignorant fans focus on Pac's negative side.
Only in hiphop can Nelly diss krs one, an emcee who trully embodies the struggle and spirit of the culture and get away wit it. smh....I dont care if Krs One called out Nelly first, if yo mama slaps you you jus cant slap back..I never seen Michael Kackson call out Marvin Gaye....
The emcees have traded the artform for financial gains. Come in the game, get tattoos,mohawks sell gold then start a record label,clothing line,sneaker line,liquor etc. thats jus wrong. the musical gods from other genres of music lived off they artistry and they were passionate about it.
Hiphop is loosing its respect, realtalk.....thats why Eminem a racist clown can get into the culture and become the highest selling rapper, thats why wiz khalifa,weezy,ross,jeezy,50,berg,t.i got the radio and charts on lock smh.
Thatss why the dumbass hiphop media - mtv braintrust can have the nerve to shit on Pac's music sayin both biggie's albums were better than anythin Pac put out., thats why the masses are bitter to crown ILLmatic as the GOAT hiphop album. We the fans dont appreciate the most talented emcees, we love to be entertained by clowns like soulja boy.....
50% of peoples who hav Jay as the GOAT are blinded by his money and beyonces beauty. Michael Jackson,Bob Marley,Marvin Gaye greatness wuz judged by they music and not money they had or records they sold.
Hiphop is turnin out into a gimmick, thats why old Gs like Scarface said fuck the culture, they aint releasin no new albums.
