i didn't know mainstream rap was still popular until i signed up here. You would think this would be a breeding ground for underground hip hop but it seems the lives of stars are too fascinating to turn your eyes away from.
I thought so to when I came on in 2005

well with Pac music, the energy in the tracks, Pac could be Deep, Political, Street, or just have fun with it, all while still being lyrical and having plenty of energy, not many MC's could touch on the same subjects as Pac did with the same energy. its like whether he was shooting niggas or fuckin bitches, every thing came across as some serious shit.

Biggie, the way Biggie rapped was amazing it seemed like he was almost effortlessly flowing like the shit was nothing to him, and the pictures he painted with his tracks its hard to come across the same talent with todays artists, and the things Biggie said it always had you like "did that nigga just say that" i swear almost every biggie track iv heard i was like ooh snap.
Hmmm. And I was around when they first dropped, both of them , same age as them as a matter of fact. But I guess when they came out there were a lot of hot rappers out at the same time so I just did'nt focus soley on them, but I get where you coming from. I guess they touched people differntly

Are you guys just casual hip hop fans because I notice you guys only mention rappers that are popular. Like I dug Biggie and some Tupac but I've heard waaaaaay more music than most people and I can honestly say I've heard cats that could rap circles around them and had some ill beats too. So I've always wondered how people label rappers great unless they've never heard more that what is presented to them? Just asking

The Essence... just above this forum

the main problem is that men like to gossip more than women these days thus we have more threads about shit that doens't even have to do with the music. therefore all these underground dudes have no press or rumors to talk about so they don't get brought up that much around here. i mean we got a hip hop wives tv show thread. that used to be shit that only your girl would care about. now niggas watch that shit just to talk about rappers personal lives. It's like niggas get a thrill out of saying oh look at this nigga he lost or hey this dude won. and with the lesser known artists folks don't care about things like this concerning them til they blow up. Like now we got folks talking bout wiz khalifa's hair, and dating amber rose. nothing about the actual music he putting out. Younger generation are more focused on outside things instead of the music but at the same time if we had the internet and all this info at our fingertips in the mid 90's would we have been any different. so it's not a diss just the way things are these days.

I can now close the thread with this statement right here

We don't usually talk bout biggie and pac this much, they just been a resurgence in threads lately..

Most of the time we talk about new and up and coming shit, but the old heads dont like that so they usually bring up 90's stuff...

there defiantly needs to be a balance so we all can stop arguing bout petty shit, u know?

When you are at the club, and the DJ is spinning a Pitbull, Black Eyed Peas, Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, or Drake... Do you nerds go up to the DJ and say "yo nigga can you spin that Wu-Tang?", or "Aye DJ can you play that latest Talib Kweli track?".

there is a time and place for everything and in a club setting those types of songs are suitable especially when a female is backing her ass on you.

Why would you be in the club looking for Wu-tang? Club settings call for club music.
