Outkast put out 3 classics in a row. 3 of the greatest most rounded hip hop albums of all time.

has the best chemistry than any group

I don't know how dudes can say they are not the greatest group of all time.

Can u honestly say Run DMC is better then Outkast..Yea not might be more influential but damn sure not better...Lyrics Subject matter Selection of beats Outkast got this easily

He said greatest, and I take that to mean more than just mic skills - it include influence & ground broken.

Don't get it twisted, I have no problems saying Run-DMC are the greatest.

According to the Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock & Roll:

“ Run-D.M.C. took hardcore hip-hop from an underground street sensation to a pop-culture phenomenon. Although earlier artists, such as Grandmaster Flash and the Sugar Hill Gang, made rap's initial strides on the airwaves, it was Run-D.M.C. that introduced hats, gold chains, and untied sneakers to youth culture's most stubborn demographic group: white, male, suburban rock fans. In the process, the trio helped change the course of popular music, paving the way for rap's second generation.

Re: Outkast... Only one of the two has a rock star image. It's no surprise that 3000 gets most of the shine.

They're dope, but their limited influence on hip-hop and music in general, puts a lid on the GOAT talk.

U talk about they limited influence but u gotta understand Run DMC came out at another time of hip hop...Of course they influence gone be greater then Outkast but I still think Outkast is by far the better group

Dre's flows are easier to follow. His voice is more clear and distinct on tracks. Not to mention he has better word play. You add that to his mysterious/purposely irregular image and you've got a star.

Big Boi's dope though. He's just more in line with being a typical MC in terms of image and content.

On every new album from Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik on, you could hear 3k grow lyrically better on every album. Not sayin big boi wasnt growing but it was like dude was in training to perfect his craft on the mic

Keep the issue separate.

1) I said that OK's limited influence on hip-hop lowers them on the GOAT list

2) Run DMC influence is not only limited to when they came out. Alot of young cats make the mistake of assuming that influence is entirely a matter of timing. W/Run-DMC that is simply not the case.

3) IMO, mic to mic OK could rap circles around Run-DMC, but that's not enough to even make them "better". (Otherwise Heltah Skeltah would be GOAT)

Peace.

Dre and Big Boi operate from two different perspectives.

But each represent one half of OutKast.

They probably wouldn't be as successful as they are today if they came out as solo artists.

Niggas be actin like Big Boi can't flow. He's as good as Dre in my opinion.

They just talk about different things most of the time.

Go listen to 85, Snappin And Trappin, Street Talkin, and his new track Shutterbugg.

I understand the difference you talkin' about (damn, I done forgot how crazy Big Boi got down on 85), but Dre just play with them words better. I don't know if Dre necessarily has a better flow, but it's more mainstream accessible, I think, which is why the people collectively celebrate 3K.

Definitely wouldn't have worked if they started as solo artists, but you wouldn't call one perspective a bit more interesting than the other?

what's with all the "higher level" of thinking when talking about greatest ever? i thought it was as simple as putting out the best music. Run DMC did a lot(understated) for hip hop but that doesn't mean I should automatically say they're "greater" at making rap music than Outkast or several other duos for that matter.

do you think Pete Maravich could ball with Jordan? nope
