theillestrator;647802 said:What do you have to prove it? When god made land animals, it specifically says cattle was in the group. Do you believe that cattle was amongst the first land animals? I don't. It also said god made the heavens and the earth. Do you believe god made the heavens and the earth? I don't. It also says that god sent his son to die for our sins. Do you believe someone died for our sins? I don't. The tower of babel story. Do you believe that's why there were different languages? I don't. Maybe I'm wrong, but the bible surely isn't going to convince me otherwise. We have a bible? We also have the bhagavad gita. We also have the vedas. We also have the quran. We also have mormons adding stuff to the bible. I don't know the answer, but I have a strong feeling about what's not the answer. I'm not trying to insult your beliefs in anyway. The bible appears to be nothing more than the work of humans. There's nothing in the bible, that says, no way humans of that time could write this. There's two things humans don't know right now...1) where we came from and 2) where we're going. However, almost every religious text doesn't try to answer those two, but claim to know the answer. why is the bible different?
VIBE86;647847 said:Nah, my beliefs aren't insulted because I see all view points and to an extent understand why you think these things.
Why do you NOT believe God created the Heavens and the earth?
Why do you NOT believe God sent His Son to die for our sins?
Why do I believe? Because in my view point, the bible is the word of God. Granted not to be taken super literally, but nonetheless it is His word.
People ask, where did we come from? The bible answers that.
People ask, where are we going? The bible answers that.
People ask, what's good and bad? The bible answers that.
I would say, safely, 100% of the questions needed to know about human life, morals and all are in the bible. How does someone back in those days just make all this up? And it just happens to coincide with our lives today? How does Revelation just happen to explain our times? Even that the Egyptians wrote that the plagues happened, that Moses did exist?
There's plenty of things that we can match up that we find today to then.
Yes, there are religions and their books have been changed. Maybe the bible has been changed as well to an extent. It will never change the fact that God exists. The original Hebrew texts prove it, if I could read Hebrew I would read those but I can't.

BiblicalAtheist;646475 said:In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
The reason why we cannot comprehend "god", on assumption there is one:
In the beginning god dwelt in darkness; there was no light, god had not created it. Humans cannot truly understand absolute darkness because they need light to survive.
God's abode is without form: a void. Humans cannot truly understand void because they are a form in themselves.
And god's vibration is utter silence. It is when god spoke that there was sound. Humans cannot truly understand silence because even their own body generates sounds.
To truly understand these states you'd have to experience these states. Which we are unable to do, and so cannot even 'reach' god's abode too understand god.
