somebody caught feelings.

fyi i wasnt being funny or egotistical when i made this thread. its a serious question. no matter how you sugar coat it, its basically telling god how awesome he is. im sure you've prayed before, been to church before. what do the prayers sound like?

"OH HEAVENLY FATHER, IM NOT WORTHY, YOUR SO GREAT, LORD THANK YOU I LOVE YOU YOUR SO AWESOME ETC"

so in what way is this spiritual/physical/etc development? im not saying god is like that either, what im saying is religion attempts to portray him like that

Nah, just pointed out the limited perception of the presented view.

What religion? People have millions of different religions. Some people possess the same belief system yet have a totally different view , outlook, and conduct.

The prayer you pointed out I have never heard that particular one, but on the surface it seems it portrays something that every human being needs to advance: Humility. Humility is recognizing that you are not all knowing or sufficient. If scientist did not possess any humility they would not be able to advance in their particular field.

Religion can be a hustle, but to act like religion applied in a proper, positive manner has no value is dishonest.

I actually agree with you. But most religious people do the opposite. Why do you think people are always complaining people claim their going to hell?

Immaturity. I used to think in a very narrow way. People in all walks of life are works in progress. I was taught never judge a work in progress. Usually when we accept a"religion" we are very narrow in our infancy. We tend to be judgmental because we are not mature enough in our understanding of what heaven and hell is. And we still have a lot of self hatred. So rather than work on self we project on others.

People forget there is a heaven right along with hell.

You know what? Most non religious people do it too. They just find different places to place people in. An unhappy person is an unhappy person.

the same can be said about the universe and beyond. it depends on your concept of heaven and hell. do you believe hell is the hot place inside the earth? is heaven in the clouds in the sky?

most people who focus on religion ignore science because their pastor told them to..they forget about the reality of certain situations

No. Hell is not inside the Earth. It's on top of the Earth. Same Place where Heaven is.

The pastor was taught wrong himself. True Religion is True Science. If your religion contradicts Nature then it is not the true religion. Science study nature to see how life was meant to be lived.

I could careless about your youtube video. Please explain this in a logical sense.

That video is all belief and interpertation on a bible that has been re-written for one. Not to mention the dude has more rings on than Jordan.

Joe really showed his lack of faith in God. I don't think he has ever read the parable of the prodigal son. Joe's son made a choice not to go to church for reasons Joe couldn't control and he wanted control. Maybe his pride got in the way; he wanted the congregation to feel like his family life matched his church life. And maybe what Mike is seeing is that Dad is not living up to what he is preaching so he stopped going. Who knows.

Here's what popped off. The dad, a preacher named Joe Colquitt, who is well known in his town of Alcoa, TN, was upset that his 32 year old son Michael had been regularly missing Sunday service. So preacher Joe called Michael down to the church to try and convince him to change his ways.

Somehow, things went LEFT and the preacher ended up pulling out a gun and PISTOL WHIPPING his son inside the church. Here's how the Blount County Daily Times is reporting it:

"(Michael) Colquitt stated (Joe) Colquitt pulled out a handgun and stated he would kill him, his wife and family," the report said. "(Michael) Colquitt stated (his father) was upset because he cussed him."

In the order of protection filed by Michael Colquitt — which was served to Joe Colquitt Tuesday - the allegations made by the younger man go one step further, as he claims his father "pulled out a gun and loaded it . . . he pointed it at me numerous times . . . he also punched me in my face."

When officers contacted Joe Colquitt, he reportedly admitted that he did pull out a handgun during the argument, but said he pointed it at the ceiling, not his son.

The pastor denied threatening his son's wife and family, but said he told the 32-year-old that "because he cussed his father, God could kill his wife and family."

this is a rather strange story........Still in all, what was the point in postin this ???

Seeing that he holds service on Sunday & not on the Sabbath as the LORD set aside for his Holy convocation,...that right there shows he's not an employee of GOD (as you put it ) but he is most definitely a servant of satan (just look at his actions)....

There's a BIG difference between the LORD's TRUE priests & satan's ministers.... (you can tell by their actions)

He's my Great Uncle. I'm a Colquitt too.

I still can't believe what happened.

May God please forgive him.

OK. Well why don't you post some story about a communist who went beserk or a non-christian who went ape shit. To put the Bible God's Employees as thought there are not a lot of non christians who subscribe to Chicken Soup for the Soul of Crazy Mofo's is pointless.

Debate the merits of the Bible and what it teaches, not some nutcase as though he represents Christians.

Ah, the wacky adventures of Christians. First the slaughter of Native Americans. Than the Mid-Atlantic slave trade, than the Holocaust, now this shit. I guess Christians are just as bad as everyone else is. Slightly worse perhaps.

I'm not a Christian I just want to get that out of the way first but your history is a bit off. For one yes, the christians had a huge hand in slavey but the Muslims had a hand in it to. In some countries in Africa right now there is still slavery happening. And those countries the majority of the population practice Islam. I know that the Pope at the time when the Holocaust was happening did turn a blind eye, but Hitler was no christian. In fact Hitler believed in Nordic folklore and science. Strange mix of beliefs I would say myself. Before people point fingers at one phoney religion or a race of people we must remember, man is wicked by nature and will take advantage of their fellow man.
