If you're willing to concede that morality cannot be what God is interested in, then we're not in disagreement.

It doesn't matter what conclusions we come to. It seems as if you want me to define God for you. It's not my place to do so.

in the social lounge, race and religion ....

but on this topic, I recommend reading '' a case for a creator '' by some journalist I forget his name. he basicly explains how science fed into his atheism, and how science years later brought him back to his faith. You see, the thing scientists hate to admit is that we still have more questions than answers, and alot of the leading ''theories'' being thought in schools as fact have been largely disproven over the years. A true scientific mind has no choice but to recognize the existence of God, of intelligent design, and of his love for us.

I brought the question up because I just finished Hawking's new book The Grand Design...and he was saying the opposite.

I believe in people. I think religion is still important because it gives hope to the hopeless and calms people's fears of death and the unknown. The conditions that created the universe and allow life to exist on this planet are scientifically perfect.Quantum physics is a muthafucka

So.. are u basically saying that ur cool with false religions as long as it calms people nerves?

That wont get them to the truth, it will only cause them to lose salvation in the afterlife

The truth has to be told one way or another

I don't wanna knock no one's beliefs or nuthin, I just never could get with organized religion...too many holes in the stories and shit. Also, the main religions were brought about when people still believed the world was flat, and they haven't changed THAT much since. I mean the Vativan didn't pardon Galileo until 1992 for saying the world revolves around the sun.

On the other hand, I do think atheism is kind of ignorant and narrow-minded, only because a human can't say God just don't exist...I just know the world wasn't created in 7 days.

Yeh, this is incorrect. A true scientific mind does not assume all proposed theories as true, especially not ones that aren't even scientific hypotheses to begin with; such as the claim that god(s) exist.

yea but at the same time if someone jus says " i dont belive in anything, we jus here, fuck god, only science" to me thats cynical, u gotta belive in somethin it doesnt have to be RELIGON but everyone or almost everyone is spiritual, if we werent then ur not a person n they wouldnt have a life, literally. like if u dont beleive in anything how can u stand for anything
