Sony invested in GDDR5 for a reason...

Yeah the same reason why Microsoft invested on the cloud

umm Sony has cloud too... Unless you're joking. Cloud will not improve graphics or anything... Trust me...

IGN interview with Cerny covers a few things, and it's only Part One of 3, but he did mention cloud computing as far as what it can and can't do:

"It’s possible to do computing in the Cloud, PlayStation 4 can do computing in the Cloud. We do something today: Matchmaking is done in the Cloud and it works very well. If we think about things that don’t work well… Trying to boost the quality of the graphics, that won’t work well in the Cloud."

Not surprising, stuff that can be handled in the cloud like matchmaking and some some basic AI routine stuff. Good to see him mention matchmaking tho, which I've seen some people wondering about as far as whether the PS4 will have

A multiplat developer trying to sell his multiplat game since PC games don't sell as well... You forgot to quote that he said he hasn't really delve in them yet... Ask anyone with tech knowledge and they will tell you the PS4 is 50% more powerful than the Xbone.

"A" multiplat developer?

"Ask anyone with tech knowledge?"

WTF? Bruh, this is JOHN CARMACK we talking about. You need to go do a quick Google/Wiki search, then come back and join the discussion after you wipe that egg off yo face. And the last thing he worried about is if some shit sell or not, he not hurtin at all. These consoles are technically the same.

Bruh... I know who he is... He's a little overrated imo but dude is a genius... Dude said he has delved in both yet... It is what it is...

Also don't need an expert... We can get the stats and do the math here and ill prove it to you.

@theloniousmonk

But it isn't tho... The specs are up... PS4 has faster RAM with 50% more powerful GPU... What developer is going to say X is better than Y... When they're partners with both...

The PS4 is still 100.00 cheaper and its stronger than Xbox bruh... How is it nullified again? I agree the gap isn't as big tho.

OK pal but it will do those other things you were blabbing on about earlier like affect A.I. and enhance the processing power considerably.

Ehhh, one of the guys from Sony came out and said that the PS4 can do the same type of things with the cloud as the XB1. Whether or not they have the resources to actually pull that off remains to be seen.

This is why I don't buy any of that. I can't see Sony having dedicated servers to the same standard Microsoft will. Because Microsoft has the advantage in terms of network infrastructure. Unlike Sony that is a big part of their bread and butter across all platforms not just their games division. Bottom line is there is a vast differences in resources between both companies and more importantly there is a greater infrastructure that is already in place for MS.

Specs don't always translate to better gaming. When was the last time the most powerful system won it's generation. The PS2 won it's generation in lopsided fashion and the Xbox was a more powerful system.

Not only that, developers and have been bashing M$ this whole time, so what reason would they have to lie? Hell, the guys saying that there isn't much difference between the PS4 and XB1 are also the same guys saying the Kinect 2 is glitchy and may not deliver what M$ is promising.

This shit right here. When people compare M$'s "cloud" to Sony's "cloud", it really is laughable.

Sony's "cloud" is for cloud "saves" and for "streaming" to Vita. That's it. That's the entire thing.

M$'s cloud is for "computing". Its an actual thing. It has a name, Azure. It has existed for years. It didn't suddenly appear recently because of XBOX One. It has global databases and servers. Its tangible. You can look it up now. Many companies already pay M$ to use it. M$ made more money just renting out Azure this past year than all of Sony made, period.

PlayStation Brings on Rackspace Talent to Help With “OpenStack Private Cloud Deployment” August 9, 2013 Written by Sebastian Moss

The ‘power of the cloud’ has been quoted numerous times by both Microsoft and Sony as we get closer to the launch of the Xbox One and PS4. Much of the debate has focused on Microsoft’s assertion that the cloud will make the Xbox One noticeably more powerful, but many have disputed it, while Sony has said that it is possible, but limited. Meanwhile, other important cloud features include Microsoft’s cheap dedicated servers for developers – which we want on PS4 – cloud saves, and, of course, Sony’s Gaikai cloud game streaming.

So, as you can see, ‘the cloud’ will be very important next gen, which is why today’s news that PSLS has uncovered is so interesting.

Rackspace – the open cloud company that recently announced plans to partner with CERN on cloud computing – will be helping Sony out with their PlayStation cloud plans.

Lanham Napier, CEO of Rackspace, said in an earnings call (transcribed by SeekingAlpha) that Sony is now an “enterprise customer” for the company, continuing: "Sony PlayStation recently signed a services agreement with Rackspace, under which our developers and architects will be consulting and supporting the PlayStation team with their OpenStack private cloud deployment."

Elsewhere he said: "We are the Founder and a key leader of the OpenStack cloud ecosystem, and we are the leader in providing OpenStack-based private clouds."

OpenStack is a cloud computing project to “provide an infrastructure as a service”, jointly created by Rackspace and NASA, with it’s website saying: "OpenStack is a global collaboration of developers and cloud computing technologists producing the ubiquitous open source cloud computing platformfor public and private clouds. The project aims to deliver solutions for all types of clouds by being simple to implement, massively scalable, and feature rich."

The scale of Sony’s cloud plans have yet to be seen, but are you excited that Sony is bringing on one of the cloud industry’s best companies to help?

PS2 came out a year before the Xbox and had FFX, MGS2, and GTA come out around the same time the Xbox launched... It was dead on arrival....

Plus back then there were more exclusive games to give people more reasons to buy a system... Not so much now... The 1st parties this gen will show the difference

Because Kinect is not as important as the system itself... You can always go back to the controller... Look at the earlier PS3/ Xbox games for Madden or Elder Scrolls... People saw that it ran better on Xbox so people bought it for Xbox... Like I said... The specs are on the internet for world to see...

It's all about the online infrastructure...hopefully since Sony is charging now PSN won't be shit... Both consoles will be great graphically B rated pcs at best ...

This new generation will be just like this current generation is between 360 and PS3, which will be a repeat for every upcoming generation barring someone gambles on something like Nintendo did with the Wii: first party games will be the only difference between the consoles. Every multiplat will look virtually the same regardless of specs.

RAM and Clouds won't change that. Two multibillion dollar corporations shopping at the same stores for parts are gonna assemble vastly different machines? Stop it.

So, Sony is in the beginning stages of a third party partnership...according to something mentioned briefly and translated on an earnings call that Sony wasn't even on?

Meanwhile, M$ is at least 3 years into their wholly owned and operated cloud computing service, Azure, that they (as well as big third parties) are already talking about openly and promoting heavily.

Yea, its the same.

And I don't know when cloud computing became solely about "OMG betta graphixz". Only people still stuck in the mindset of "bits" and "blast processing" think that, but there are definite benefits to it.

Exactly.

Having the A.I. in Forza specifically adjust to how I drive and race in that game due to the cloud will do nothing but ENHANCE the Forza experience for me. Having the ability for better processing power than what the XB1 could do out the box in Dead Rising 3 thanks to the cloud will lead to much more zombies and activity on the screen at once which will make it a more IMMERSIVE experience.

Cloud computing is about to make console gaming even more interesting than it already is and more on par with superior PC gaming experiences. Due to key elements that affect the enjoyment of a video game experience far more than graphics do. Primarily allowing for better A.I. and superior processing power; meaning smarter CPU opponents, better draw distances, less clipping and no lagging etc. than what we would have if the XB1 didn't have any cloud computing implementation.

You guys do know on tech sites everyone looks at the cloud like a joke right.... The cloud really isn't shit.

They don't hear you bruh... They need something to justify being a weaker console for 100.00 more
