1 I'm enjoying Phil Jackson's revisionist "I never wanted the Knicks job" routine. He wanted it. Sent out multiple feelers thru 3rd parties.

2 Dolan never even considered Jackson. Dolan's biggest fear in life = employing someone who is smarter and more popular than him.

3 Jackson always assumed he'd take a year off, then be the "savior" of the Knicks for big bucks as the fitting last act of his career.

4 Dolan wanted no part of Jackson's dream ending for his career. Again - wouldn't even consider it. So Jackson is backtracking. (The end.)

Greg Popovich>Phil Jackson, I don't give a shit how many rings he has...

I laugh. Only cause I posted the first chapter of the Bricks Bible a few months ago, and people said I didn't know what I was talking about.

Welp, fuck you now.

Not that Phil isnt right about the wack ass Knicks....but isnt that your job as a coach to bring structure and a game plan to a team?? Phil has always walked into the best possible situation to cruise into a chip. He has never BUILT a championship team in his life.

Exactly this doesn't make the Knicks look bad this makes Jackson look bad.

no it doesnt, he has 11 rings he can decide where he wants to go and what he wants to do

Nah man everything he said a great coach would fix. He's scared of a real challenge that's why I never respected him

I'm on the fence about PHil's legacy. It ain't as good as those rings suggest, but keep in mind that he replaced other coaches in both situations that couldn't really cut it with those same "super stars" he had in Chicago and L.A.

Word to Doug Collins, Del Harris, Rambis, (and nowadays with coaches like Stan Van Gundy, Spoelstra, etc.)

So it's not like having talent is automatic championship.

He really is a master of "personalities" which is probably a key skill to have when coaching pro athletes. Alot of these niggas don't need or want to be told how to play the game that they get 8 figures to play, so you have to know how to get in these niggas heads. And that Zen shit is real....

...And this dude had something to do with that too...

Tex Winters was the coach behind the Triangle yeah....but Phil does know defense....he was an defensive player, and as a fan who seen Phil's team have several run-ins against my team (Pistons-Bulls wars) can attest, he was no slouch in calling out defensive sets...he knew exactly what to do. but yeah a big knock against him is he was a coach who only look for ready-built teams...but Riley and Jackson were masters at coaching "personalities" as you put it, because lord knows how many ego you gotta deal with.....Daley was sort of the same way (in Detroit early years with Zeke / Dantley / Tripucka all beefing with each other)..........

umm no bruh, this makes the knicks look bad. phil got 13 rings under his belt. nuff said.

phil saying the same thing that a lot of folks have said about them. they don't gel. carmelo wanna score, but don't wanna play d? did that wrong when he was in denver? where did that get him? they need a true point guard to help distribute the ball around. i mean how is that things was flowin when he was out (and amare), and they were winning games. yet when they returned, things went south? explain that.

face it man, it's not working. melo isn't working. amare isn't working.

Love how anything Knick related niggaz try to throw me under the bus... I will have my time to laugh at u fuckers...

Phil wanted the Job but Dolan ain't want him.. Especially after the way shit ended with another older coach Larry Brown...

In 99... Jeff Van Gundy said this about Phil...

"That guy doesn't have the balls to coach this team...".

I agree wit JVG.... Phil just up to his Zen tricks tryna shit in the Knicks cuz Dolan wasn't tryna turn the Knicks into a retirement home for coach. Not when Woodson went 18-6 to close the last 24 games of the season. The best record in the league during that time. All without two of our best players Lin and Stat..

Say what u want about this team. But u can't deny there is talent to be built on. All we need is a system that maximizes that talent and time to Gel... It's on Woody to put it together...

umm how many rings does van gudy have again? lol!!

People keep knocking Phil cause he didnt " build " a championship team. He's not a GM. He's a coach. It's not his responsibility to put the team together.

Every goat coach has had superstars

People like to ride pop's dick down in San Antonio but he was 30 games under 500 until the admiral came back from injury and then they drafted tim Duncan....plus then he got manu and tony

Larry Brown, for all his supposed coaching prowess, never won shit until he took someone else's team and won with them

Riley had magic, Kareem and worthy....red had Russell and crew
