Chocolate milk is a good recovery drink. That's what I've been using and it works. I drink about 2 glasses full of the shit after a workout and I'm barely sore the next day.

Yeah drink water during the workout to rehydrate your self from all the sweating you do. After your work out drink your recovery drink that shit put a good 13 extra inches on my meat...............pause..................no homo. Yesterday I played ball for like 2 and a half hours and was sore as fuck by then time I went home. Whole body was hurting. I drink my 2 glasses of chocolate milk and Im cool now, just a little sore. That shit reinvigorates you somethin serious fam.

the recovery drink Tony talks about is nothing but an overpriced protein shake.... depending on your diet chocolate milk may not be the way to go for you.... in short you can use any protein shake that is cost effective for you

A recovery drink isn't just a protein shake though. It needs to have 4:1 ration of carbs to protein, and have glucose for muscle recovery. A protein shake is mostly protein with very little carbs and sugars in it. It won't help your body with muscle recovery and you'll still be sore as hell when you're done. Shit Michael Phelps uses chocolate milk as his recovery drink

Yea a lot of people do it, but chocolate milk has its downsides too. It is a good and cheap alternative though. No 1 solution is going to work for everyone, which is why I said depending on diet. If someone is planning on doing chocolate milk it should be the low fat stuff. He was asking about the recover drink so I gave him info because its a waste of money to buy that stuff they advertise on the DVDs.

The main issue was when you said he can use any protein shake for his recovery drink. A typical protein shake isn't going to give him the right amount of carbs and glucose needed to replenish his body.

the shit on the website is overpriced tho. i ain't payin that much for it. I'm lactose intollerent so i just bought some soy choc milk. it's my 1st time drinking soy milk tho so i hope the shit ain't nasty.

If you mix whey protein powder with juice, or like make a smoothie with the protein and fruit, isn't that the same carb + protein + glucose ratio?

Question:

When do ya'll do the ab ripper x in regards to the p90 work out you do that day...i.e. Do you do it after the work out or say in the morning the day you are scheduled to do it...etc.etc.

You need to get the documentation that comes with the DVDs... it gives you 3 different regimens to choose from.

im on p90x and i do it right after my workout. you're already warmed up and stretched so you can go right into it

Ive messed with P90x on and off since late last year. I basically broke away from the suggested workout routine and made my own thing.

I skip the yoga and i mix in half of kenpo X and most of Plyo for my non resistance day workout. Partly because toward latter part of both workouts there are exercises that i don't really care for.

I usually don't have time for ab ripper x after a resistance workout so i do it before bed on that day.

as far as recovery, i take whey protein followed by breakfast(morning) and/or dinner(evening). That way i meet all my nutritional needs besides the protein for a good recovery. I also have a drink for glucose and amino acids i sip on throughout my p90x workout.

The diet is really important as well. if you're trying to lose some weight reducing your calories is essential. You need to find out your stats ie, lean body mass, caloric intake based on your current weight, etc. Once you know this, reducing your calories becomes much easier. I've been told that technically you can eat what you want so long as you reduce your calories, maintain enough protein, and do your work out at least 3 times a week and still see positive results but i tend to eat leaner stuff so i don't know how true that is.
