Oh and another thing, you're not making valid points. All you're using is emotion and perception from your "glory years" and trying to pass them off as facts. You have no figures. No 40 times. No agility test. No nothing to base your "nba players are better athletes" shit on.

I've placed the #'s to beat on every single athletic test the nfl host. I've posted heights and weights of comparable players and their feasts. I mean, we got high school football players that are more athletic than your nba stars. Seriously go check out the #'s that high school players are dropping in order to get scholarships.

Miss me with your valid points shit. If you ain't backing your words up with links than you ain't saying shit. And I've yet to see a solid concrete fact from you.

he was obviously exaggerating with 7'4, but he's serious that all you have to do is be tall and you're automatically getting a look from an nba team

Not at all. You have to be talented too. I remember when dudes thought Luc Longley was a scrub. He played v. the best HS team in the nation in King HS(Ill) in a pickup and scored 50 points like it wasn't shit. Most NFL players wanted to be NBA players, they didn't make it. Were they good athletes in some cases, yes, but Basketball athlete is different than Football. In Basketball, my vert look like shit. In Football at 6'4 and a 35 inch vert, I was crucial if I wanted to be.

time out time out time out

so we gonna forget an entire thread shitting on M D'antoni for not running a team that plays defense???

so we gonna forget how in all 80/90s vs todays basketball threads the #1 discussion revolves around the soft defensive policies of the league??? Really??? Really???

D'Antoni is one coach with one team. Please, miss me with that one.

This is the definition of athlete

Nba players have more agility, endurance and definitely more skill

Running a fast break full speed like D rose takes more skill than chris johnson following blocks

kobe shooting a 20 foot fadeaway takes more skill than randy moss catching a bomb

Dennis rodman snatching 25 rebounds takes more skill and athleticism than vince wilfork tackling somebody

Running a 48 minute game takes more endurance, agility and conditioning than playing a football game

I don't see that word in the definition of "athlete" that you posted. Does Kobe's 20 ft shot display elite strength, agility or endurance?

ATHLETICISM

...and you're talkin bout fast breaks and fade aways?

Depending on your talent is how athletic you can be

Chad Jones-
Baseball- good athlete
Football- very good athlete
Basketball- solid athlete

Me-
Baseball- great athlete
Football- decent athlete
Basketball- solid athlete and great speed

Man, the strength training isn't even comparable. One sports doesn't require it that much from jump and in the other, it's a gladiator sport so it's mandatory.

Tony Gonzalez and julius peppers

2 examples of athletes who played bball and football in college

Both would of not been drafted in the nba cuz they were NOT GOOD ENOUGH not skilled enough they would of been undrafted fa's

Both high level draft picks and high caliber nfl players

Nuff said

lol whats that gota do with being a great athlete which Peppers and Gonzo CLEARLY ARE

1. Luc longley's feat = basketball skill (what don't y'all understand about the difference between skill and athleticisim )

2. You have nothing to back up this "most nfl players wanted to be nba players claim." That's simply not true. I'd argue that most nba players wanted to be football players (lebron) realized the physical toll (lebron) how much money was garunteed in the nba (Lebron) and went that route. Your point is moot and is based on perception.

4. Yes your vert would look like shit in football, but a 6'4, depending on your weight, you'd only be allowed to play WR. You're too tall to be a DB. And because you're too tall, you prob don't have the agility or 40speed to be a DB. So while you may be a jumpball god, you'd be a practice squad scrub.

You're missing the point

Shooting a 20 foot fadeaway over a 6'6 defender is harder than "timing your speed blah, blah, blah"

Who cares if kobe can do it in his sleep? It's still harder than running a wr route

Have u ever hooped? you prolly suck at basketball

I CAN Go in the nfl and do what desean jackson does

RIGHT NOW

I CANNOT go in the nba and shoot fadeways like kobe or split double teams like D rose and dunk over a 6'11 center

cool story bro...you won...you're the next desean jackson

Nobody in the nfl can do that let alone run a 48 minute full court game

I already shut u down in 2 posts, and you act like you didn't read them/see part of them...good strategy

It's hilarious to me that of ALLLLLLLLLLL the players in the NFL you use lineman this often to represent the league.

Them nfl niggas are just big and run fast they are not better athletes than nba players do u know how hard it is to dunk?

Do I need to post some reverse lay ups and alley opps?

When sam adams, wilfork and all them hawaiian niggas wit the big bellies are playing in the nfl the athleticism debate gets destroyed

NONE of them can play in the nba for 5 minutes derrick rose,Iverson, lebron could play in the nfl

im sorry what team did they play for?

a BUNCH of niggas in both sports played the other in high school and college

I don't see how we'd truly know. NFL players run and jump and have their speed and agility tested all the time just as NBA players do. The main difference is that NBA players don't take physical punishment comparable to what NFL players go through.

When we talk about "athletes" how much are we referring to "refined skill" vs. all out explosiveness/strength/speed/agility, etc.?

35 inch vert is HS is really damn good. Calvin Johnson had a 34, AJ Green had a 32, and Julio had a 40 inch vert in HS. In college for Football, they would train you at those things. In Basketball, we worked on skill, plays, conditioning and coordination.
