The CS should have more discussions/debates like this....good points coming from both sides.

Not at all...these arguments from the NBA side are pathetic

As u can see in this thread Im not upset at all Im stating my opinion

I couldn't care less which league has better athletes

Majority of all O and D lineman, punters, kickers,Te's,most Qb's are not athletic

Peyton manning, joe flacco are perfect examples

N Suh is the exception

this makes up the majority of the nfl thats what Im sayin we wont agree I can leave it at that

Lol @ the nfl having better athletes than the nba

In the nba you can play 4 -5 games in a week back to back wit niggas runnin constantly, doin reverses, dunking, jumping, shooting fadeaways, blocking shots, crossin niggas etc

It aint close

OK. I'll let you slide with K,P,QB's, OL,DL being unathletic. I don't agree, but we'll let it go

Do you agree that the other NFL positions are more athletic than NBA players? RB,WR,LB,DB's

in my opinion it depends on the individual player. let me ask this question the best running back is adrian peterson (arguably) which nba player is he more atheletically better than?

melo is a fat ass with a gut....and linemen aren't?

You're comparing a Small Forward to lineman? rly? you think thats a credible argument for your point?

nycest_1;3058123 said:
shawn bradley and yao are nba players they don't have nfl bodies because they arent compact. but shawn bradley can run for longer distances than damn near 75% of the nfl

What is this based on? Are you stupid? Do you realize most centers can't even walk without limping? Have you seen Brook Lopez for example? Dude is so bow legged he can scratch his inner ankle with his big toe? Yao can't even run up and down the court at the same speed on a consistent basis. If we were to take out all of your centers in this athletic challenge, that would equate to 1/5th of your league. If we were to take out the PF's, that would equate to 2/5ths of your league. If we take out that many players, then you can no longer say you are the better athletes. We just took out 40% of your sample population.

You're only counter argument would be "look at your quarterbacks." To which we would say, our qbs are not athletes, we admit that. So what do you get by pointing that out? The fact that your adverse reaction to us condemning your centers, is by pointing out our quarterbacks just means you see them as equals.

nycest_1;3058123 said:
plenty of nba players bench 225. matter of fact most niggaz can bench their body weight. now the 300+ mark is trickier. but lets look at those lifts nfl niggaz do? the shit is like 1-3 reps at best lol

The max rep at the 2011 combine was 49. Are you serious?

nycest_1;3058123 said:
how the fuck you figure a lineman has a higher vert than kevin durant? because durant only has to jump about a foot to dunk a basketball?

There are standardized test genius. And you're missing the secondary point, the fact that you can only compare KD, a 6'9 230 player to a lineman in only a vert challenge says a lot about the athleticism of said lineman. What about the other parts of athleticism like strength, agility, top speed, endurance???

nycest_1;3058123 said:
he doesn't fuckin jump that high because hes not really pushed too lol niggaz don't think i swear

So, if he doesn't jump that high, because he's not pushed too, doesn't that also mean he doesn't jump that high, RIGHT NOW, because he can't RIGHT NOW, because nobody has pushed him to RIGHT NOW. So how can you say he's more athletic if he hasn't even reached his athletic threshold? You can't. Because you're basing your argument off of potential. And its a potential that you're overrating because you WANT HIM to be more athletic.

nycest_1;3058123 said:
and nfl tests for short distance running because its a short distance sport. niggaz make those short bursts of speed therefore they train for it.

so what point does this prove beside the NFL test for everything basketball does not. I have yet to see somebody drop a 40 time, an agility test, a vertical test, a shuttle test, a bench test, a squat test or any test for that matter

you have no athletic test to prove you are more athletic

That bench press shit he tried to say is silly. I looked up the NBA combine. They bench 185 instead of 225, and a lot of the players either can't lift it , or just back out of that part of the combine. Kevin Durant didn't do 185, and he's not the only one. So when whoever it was said u were wrong about NBA players and 225...you weren't

Now ya'll wanna go in on lineman for not bein able to run for long periods of time? How is the most athletic sport filled with dudes that can't even bench their body weight?

Damn...

Please don't use skills...lookin for athleticism

But u sonned ya self and your whole argument wit this

Iversons game was predicated on speed, quickness

Now that iverson is 36 and dont have that same lightning fast speed and the quickness wit the rock

He's not in the nba

Once his athletic ability declined he cant make one nba roster

While peyton manning is 35,brady 34 and will be playing for another 3-4 years until they pushin 40 cuz they don't have to do anything athletically but avoid sacks or scramble out of bounds

Thanks for proving my point

you're comparing a position that demands athletic ability, to one that demands cognizant ability??? smh you niggas don't know how to compare and contrast

Lineman have speed and strength. You discount them strictly off endurance.

And you stay duckin my posts. IF TIGER WOODS GOT UP OFF THE BENCH, NBA PLAYERS WOULD HAFTA TAKE WEIGHT AFTER WEIGHT AFTER WEIGHT OFF BEFORE THEY COULD USE THAT SHIT. AND THESE ARE OUR TOP ATHLETES?!?

who is omitting these ppl??? u fail to realize that 1 punter, 1 kicker and 3 quarterbacks still wouldn't fill up the depth chart for OLB. Thats 5 out of 52 players. you fail.

add the lineman, add the TE, they are still more athletic than your PF and your Centers

I was lookin this same thing up earlier. I figured all those NBA dudes do is jump, so they'll probably have better verticals. But when I saw the numbers...it was over. Can't run faster, jump higher, or lift more...
