i prefer outkast over public enemy i personally think outkast is the best duo ever, but pe had more impact in hip hop than outkast. as far as impact it aint close.

Jamaica you just got niggas ready to get the pitchfork and clubs out for the bold.A south group better than any rap duo omg

Niggas talking about impact when Bomb Over Baghdad help congress to vote for the war on terror. What did PE ever do that help their country or black people.

this could be true.
if it is then Outkast got them in impact.
And as far as rapping goes in a group, Kast got it
plus solo they killing Chuck D

But whats funny though is the war on terror was launched based on a lie, so they wouldn't get props if that song was used for that. George Bush using you to push a bullshit war=fail lol. I doubt it though, them towers dropping needed no soundtrack they was goin in regardless. Of course Kast spit more advanced than Chuck, Jimi Hendrix was more advanced than BB King but niggas recognize King's skill.

Looks like everytime you niggas rate a rapper you bring some other category into it.You niggas want to talk about impact??? NWA had a bigger impact that PE tell me I'm lying

epic fail. NWA didn't influence shit hardly. It was a shock rap group, plain and simple.

And tell me which Outkast album had more impact than It Takes A Nation of Millions?

I'll wait.

....

EDIT: but yeah, I'll admit that in rapping ability alone, Outkast as a group is untouchable.

Whats ironic is no PE, no songs like Bombs over Baghdad. What did Kast do for black people besides make good music (which is cool)? PE influenced a generation of niggas to stop believing everything the govt tells you and learn about shit for yourself, like malcolm X in the 80's type shit. They made certain niggas who was moving work and robbin old ladies reconsider what they was doing (for a while at least). They made niggas know that its alright to be proud to be black and not be Bryant Gumbel/ Carlton Banks lol. Thats deeper than just music. And Congress launched the war on terror cause they blew up the buildings not cause of a song lol. But whatever son Outkast the greatest group in history ok got you..........

Nigga this is entertainment not food stamps. Outkast makes/made better music then PE, admit it. O and....

"Get Up, Get Out" more inspirational then any song PE came up with. Try me

this whole thread is so LAUGHABLE!!

Public Enemy and there producing collective the Bomb Squad changed Sonically what Hip hop should sound like!! there 64 track layered sound was so ground breaking with A NATION OF MILLIONS in early 1988 it was the biggest sonic influence on Dr Dre when he produced STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON later that year!!

When Ice Cube left NWA who did he run to produce his debut classic album Amerikkkas Most Wanted??

Wait For It?

Wati For it?

CHUCK D PUBLIC ENEMY and the BOMB SQUAD!! they produced Cube and put out of a classic!!!

yall too young and too short sighted to be talking about shyt you dont know wtf you talking about! and I love OUTKAST but two different groups. Two different eras. Two different focuses on how to make music!!

PUBLIC ENEMY- Most relevant in the 80's Militant Political Rap! Forerunner Of NWA

CLASSICS: Rebel Without A Pause, Fight The Power, Dont Believe The Hype

OUTKAST - Most relevant in the 90's about smoking weed and pushing cadillacs! (morphed into some weird but entertaining thing in 00's)

Southern Playastic, The Way You Move, Elevators!

dumb azz thread and completely off target comparing two legendary groups that are nothing alike!!

I agree 100%.

If we talk about impact PE got Outkast by landslide. "It Takes a Nation" is widely recognized by critics as greatest hip-hop album ever made. Outkast take it on creative side and their discography is much more varied, while PE created their unique style and stuck with it through the rest of career.

OK ATL nigga lol, rep your people I feel u. Anyway PE made edutainment. If Kast was Michael Jordan, PE was Ali. Michael is all kinds of great but Ali stood for more and sacrificed more (what controversy besides that Rosa parks shit has Kast dealt with for they stance on shit), no comparison. Besides you mention "Get Up Get out", thats not exactly party music so stop it lol (food stamps yous a comedian). Fight The Power, Dont Believe The Hype, Black Steel In the Hour Of Chaos, 911 is a Joke inspired me more to start with. I was already trying to "get Up Get out" when that shit came out because of PE......

Not my people, I'm from Maryland. That's the easy way out.

My point is Outkast was/is able to do more then PE. PE was stuck in a box, Outkast can do it all. I'm lying?

feel ya fam, this is why the reason is the worst forum on this site, it's gets no respect. The modes are a joke for allowing the same b.s. trolls making shock threads every damn day, and a lot of the young folks on here are an embrassment to the knowledge of hip hop.

Fair enough, no easy way out then. outkast could do it all, but the political stuff they not comparing to PE. What you call a box I call specialization. Outkast specialized in being different. PE specialized in militant hip-hop and a whole new style of production that influenced Dre and others. I think kast is the most creative duo ever (maybe organized konfusion is competing with them, thats all), prolly most important duo from the South. They may be able to do more (I think you mean versatility) but it still dont equal the impact PE had, which is my point.
