Lucas has nothing to do with this movie. It's one of the reasons I won't be watching it but I know I'm in the minority with that.
This is the man responsible for the casting
A game for the curious: calculate how long it takes before his face makes you want to punch your screens.
Lucas has no input at all?
Nope. He washed his hands off any creative input the minute he sold it to Disney. They didn't even care for his ideas and didn't entertain them; instead they're starting over from scratch.
This is a by committee corporately mandated Star Wars movie down to them hiring one of the biggest puppets and yes men in modern hollywood to direct. Dude is like the anti-Nolan and not at all a visionary which is why he's a Hollywood execs dream and gets constant work; he doesn't challenge his producers or studio execs or fights for his own ideas with any vigor. Which is another reason I'm like "nah no thanks".
Sure there will be lots of fan service but it will be forced and I have no interest in Disney executives vision of the SW universe. For better or worse Lucas was still an independent visionary which is why I would've given it a shot if Lucasfilm was still under his helm.
I will visit Star Wars land whenever that happens though. I think the one thing I will involve myself with regarding Disney's Star Wars is the ancillary shit like comic books and theme park attractions. I'm done with the movies though.
