what essentiallly Drake is saying is Jay dropped RD at 26...shit barely moved units.....Drake just turned 30 and is sitting on top of the game

Drake was the hottest free agent in the game upon his arrival into the mainstream. No question. He was highly sought after AND he signed to the hottest rapper at the time. There was essentially no struggle. Jay was an unknown when he dropped RD.

So Drake is bragging about nothing

Again, Jay was an unknown. Everyone knew who Drake was. THAN he became apart of the YM machine. So what's the pointing in bragging about that?

Jay was know to a certain extent.. dont try and flip it. Just off of his Jaz Kane and Big associations. And he a New York artist in the late 80s'and 90s thats a whole lot of exposure in comparison to Toronto. I found out bout Drake on the IC. Its a point to brag about in those twos conflcit

Drake will never be Jay tho

It's like the narrative lebron fans love to throw around that he got the same amount of rings as jordan at the same age

That's cool and I'm a lebron stan to my heart but that don't got shit to do with the end result

And I bet your old ass is sitting in front of your mac book right now in a thrasher hoodie and skinny jeans with rainbow dreds trying to act "in".

Do not try to twist my post Sion, that fuckshit isnt gonna work here.

Those 80 million Caucasians did not dickride Pac until the African American community collectively agreed on his greatness. That is the point I'm driving here. Their voice and dollars 9/10 come into play way after the fact. They don't matter when culture and music is being made.

That shit has 0 to do with purism. It's a facts.

Michael Jackson was a vocalist and overall entertainer who sang and danced. Once again, false equivalency. What exactly is Drake contributing other then his voice and image.

Kanye is getting slandered right now. On all social media outlets. As we speak. Because hypebeast like you bolster his already overinflated image when the music he's produced since sucking his own dick and failing to write or produce his own shit has not been up to par.

Tell me I'm lieing nigga. Tell me Kanye's music post Graduation has been exemplary.

And I see you conveniently side skirted my mentioning of the obscure or turn up music like Rae Sremmurd but clung onto my mentioning of Rashad. Corny ass stereotypes. You out here with these assumptions because you believe I'm a 40 year old dunn son in butters and baggy jeans. LOLOLOLOL No.

You wanna know the stark reality you gotta deal with soon? Hip-Hop is a form of counter culture.

The same way these mumble rappers have gained prominence (by being rebellious try hards) is the same way they will fade into obscurity because the pendulum swings. It has already begun. So lets say what your saying is true, and ghostwriting is being accepted as the norm. A few years later, niggas, for the sake of being different will begin to rebel against that. And what do you think is going to end up coming back into play?

As for the rest of your bullshit, save that bullshit blanket argument.

Hip-Hop being the most popular culture or genre of music does not automatically flail it, as a genre in it's entirety, into the realm of Katy Perry bubblegum pop. You keep trying. Its not working, B.

Drake himself may have a spot in their world. The rest of our artists are still looked at as outsiders. But you don't have to take my word for it. Do your googles.

@Cutler 26 INT's LOL! Put me back on ignore and stop bitchin'

MJ to rap is a contrast not an "equivalency" and it's facts not "a facts".

Who cares if Ye's slandered the truth is he's still the most influential of the last 15 years no question. His place in rap music is solidified. Every artist is criticised and Kanye definitely isn't for having songwriters.

Ghostwriting is going to become more prominent in the long-term especially with rappers singing now. Drake got exposed for having writers and is still making music and selling even more than he used to. Writing is a lot more prominent in rap than most think it just isn't spoken of often because of the "stigma" of writing even tho everyone knows about it in the industry.

Hip-Hop WAS a form of counter culture it isn't anymore at least not to the same degree because of corporate interests. It's a platform, and one that corporations have exploited for dayum near the longest time. That's why NaS said Hip-Hop is dead. It's evolved into the dominant form of music or what is pop music as in popular music.

I don't have to sully the pantheon of artists who are willing to write and potentially produce their own work, just for the sake of urinal cake Drake or to appreciate Kanye's cultural influences. I can do both. Its not hard. That is a slap in the face to artists who are 100% hands on with their craft. You are doing them a disservice, not us so called purists.

And until your able to provide circumstantial evidence (like the reference tracks we heard last year) of this blanket statement that ghostwriting is rampant in the industry, then you can kindly fuck off with this bold assertion. That shit is a myth, and even if it wasn't, so long as the likes of Jay, Nas, 3 Stacks, ect. aren't guilty of it, then the point still stands. Top 5 = No writers.

I'm not even gonna humor you and this Hip Hop is no longer counter-culture bullshit, when records like Alright have become protest anthems within the past year, and are getting flagged as hate speech by pundits on Fox News.

Just because your boy is still making baby lotion infused ballads, does not mean the genre as a whole has been neutered along with him.
