Official Big Boi - Boomiverse Album Discussion (June 16th)

Here's my song by song analysis.

1 Da Next Day - 4/5 - Dope lil intro. Big goes in.

2 Kill Jill - 10/5 - This track is amazing. It goes up there with "This is What It Comes Too" as my favorite songs of the year.

3 Mic Jack - 2/5 - Big's raps are good, but I can't get into the song.

4 In the South - 4.5/5 - Dope song. I might have given it a 5, but Gucci's verse was a little weak to me.

5 Order of Operation - Good song. This is one of those songs that I can only really see Big making.

6 All Night - 2.5/5 - Another weak song. Marginally better than Mic Jack.

7 Get Wit It - 3/5 - Cool little track. Other people seem to like it a lot more than I do.

8 Overthunk - 4/5- Another good track of the type that Big does really well and you don't really get from anyone else.

9 Chocolate - 3/5 - Ok track. It's like the opposite of Get Wit It. I seem to like it more than others.

10 Made Men - 4 - Dope track. I probably would have given it higher without that weak ass Kurupt verse.

11 Freakanomic - 3.5 Ok track. Nothing special, but not bad either.

12 Follow Deez - 4 - Good track. Probably could have been higher without the lazy Curren$y verse.

All around, I'd give it a 7.5 which I consider to be a good album. Right now, that's the same score I'd give Vicious lies. The difference is when Vicious Lies first came out, I gave it a 5 and it grew on me. I don't see this one growing on me anymore than it has, so it will probably stay with that score.

Kill Jill has me downloading RTJ.

I ain't the biggest Killer fan or casual even a casual fan of his but that shit had my head spinning. If he spitting like that on any RTJ tracks then I def been sleeping them

Fave tracks thus far:

Da Next Day

Kill Jill

Order Of Operations

Follow Deez

And smh at Ray Murray apparently being the only member of ONP on this shyt >_> (according to tha songwriting credits)

You probably wont like it cause the production is nothing like "Kill Jill" from El-P. Give RTJ 1 a spin tho.

Shit still going to me. Last week "Freakanomics" was my favorite cut, but this week "Overthinking & "All' night" up the top of my list.

I hate it, but the album was a dud imo. Haven't listened to it since that first week it dropped. I have no doubt he'll kill it next album

With that being said, that Sir Lucious stay in rotation.

How'd I miss this thread?!?! That sample on Kill Jill oohweee shit knocks! Big Boi one of the most underrated in the game.

I still like it, but I think the problem with Big Boi is he tries to reinvent himself too much. I have no doubt that he could give us another Lucious Left Foot if he wanted, but he's so committed to trying to drop something completely new each album. I respect that, but at the same time, sometimes niggas just want more of what they like.

Bingo. It's funny cause he was the one that was always the same in the beginning.

I still like it also. I'll take it down from 4 to 3.5 mics tho. That track with Kurupt is about as mehhh as it gets and Curren$y completely ruined the last joint for me.

Yeah I still fuck wit it. "Order of operations", "Get wit it", "Kill jill", "Freakanomics", "All' night", still go to me, but i will admit that the replay value is kinda lacking.
