No petition needed. Blank ain't ever dragged his feet on dropping a coach. The longest he'll wait is the end of the season. If that long...

Mike Smith shouldn't get fired because the team had plenty of injuries with the starters

Blank fired Dan Reeves under the same circumstances (Vick was hurt.)

And shouts out to the Falcons being the only team to have a losing season and GAIN fans. Got nikkas who don't even rep teams looking up shit about'em.

Or maybe they just wanna be like their father.

I'm cool with Smitty overall. He earned my respect back in '09. That team was supposed to be like this year's team record-wise (regardless of injuries.)

But the team quit on him the last 3 games. The first 5 or 6 games came down to the last play, but when a team quits on a coach it's time to move on. Just business.

I think he deserves to be able to coach out the rest of the season unless the next couple games go like the last few. And I'm sure that's the plan for Dimitroff and Blank.

And lol @ any dumb nikka that thinks a "vote of confidence" mid season means anything.

Every coach that's ever been fired in the NFL was preceded by the owner or GM saying "Nah, he's cool."

Nikkas need to stop watching me and watch some sports.

Smitty ball is bullshit....

The Falcon filter is bullshit...

The way this team has been built is bullshit...

Thomas D needs to take some heat too. He has traded away picks and missed on the ones he did have. He has also made costly roster moves.... All this along with injuries got us where we are today.

No gonna act like I just saw this coming but yall know ive complained about the way this team has been put together for years. The preseasons should have told us we have very little depth on this team. That and not having a lot of talent gets us to 2-7 when we have some injuries.

Yeah it's kinda fucked up because I feel like overall he's done a good job, and this season Kneesus aint been kind to us. But somebody gotta fall on the sword in these situations and the easiest target is Mike Smith.

Numbaz got a good point about player development too tho. All our good/great players already were that, and a few that we picked up actually declined a bit when they got here instead of elevating or at least maintaining.

Who's available out there worth firing him for right now tho?

I doubt anybody would be "hired" before January or feburary. Most likely wait until after Week 17. And if he does fire Smitty before that he'll probably make Nolan or Robiskie the interim coach.

I would actually like to see Robiskie get the interim job if Smitty get put in a vacant. I enjoyed seeing Emmitt Thomas (another brother) coaching after Quittrino got fired.

The only reason I think Smitty deserves to be fired is because the team isn't listening anymore. One thing we've always done under Smitty is get out to fast starts and be in the top 5 of fewest penalties and now they aren't even doing that

I do think y'all are reaching on some shit tho especially player development for some of the misses there are the same amount of hits on players nobody thought twice about

Pretty much the bold. Every coach has those few things that they "hang their hat" on. It's what got them the job and it's what keeps them employed. Smitty hangs his hat on three things...

1. Defense (Defensive assistant for Baltimore and Jax)

2. Discipline (low penalties)

3. Taking care of the football. (fumbles, INT's, etc.)

We've done none of the above well all year and they've all gotten worse week to week.

If we do keep him, we need to bring in some more veteran players - not even starters - just vets with leadership skills. 'Cause if he stays and we start shaky again next year -- he'll lose the team again.

FLOWERY BRANCH -- The Falcons placed tackle Sam Baker, who had a left knee injury, on injured reserve today.

He will miss the rest of the season and will require surgery. The Falcons also waived veteran linebacker Thomas Howard. They will activate linebacker Sean Weatherspoon and fill the additional roster opening.
