damn,D_Rap_Scholar couldn't wait for somebody to make this thread

nigga you're right about what you said/

but understand, it's only because I'ma hip hop head/

it's true, I HAVE been waiting for this thread /

cause nowadays man, it feels like New York is dead/

So I've been waiting, like a Republican waits for Obama to leave/

hoping, praying for a revival of the New York scene/

Don't call me a patient, cause I ain't patient/

I stay waiting for this shit, like landlords who don't get paid rent/

nigga where's my payment?!?!/

I stay waiting....like an addict that waits for cocaine/

or like an exploited worker, who hasn't been paid/

or like a virgin, who can't seem to get laid/

or like a struggling rapper, who waits for his shit to get played/

hold on wait!/

just see this, man you gotta see this/

cuz New York is gonna be back, you better believe it/

peep this, you gotta peep this/

cause I be waiting like a Christian waits for the second coming of Jesus/

With my Rasta voice, crying out, "come soon Jah!'"/

"Ya don't 'come to ya senses', ya senses gotta come to ya!"/

"so come soon jah, please come soon jah"/

cause when NY is back, I'll be singing HALLELUJAH!/

hhaha, man I'm on some other shit right now

D_Rap_Scholar, that author is just a hating as NY'er mad that the souf is winning.

nah b, the souf is cool. southern niggaz bring a lot of fresh shit to the game. They've made hip hop relevant for today's world and have kept it going strong in terms of its cultural influence. Many props to my Southern nigs, for reinventing the game!

But as far as the article goes, the author's not being a hater, he's just being nostalgic...lamenting the loss of that boom bap sound that use to define an era..but now it just seems like a vestige of what it once was. But it's not about hating on other regions who do well. He's more bothered by the fact that cats like A$AP Rocky don't seem interested in building on the legacy of those who before them. And what's the result of that: The region that used to be a trend-setter in the game, is now just following the trends...and is not offering anything of their own. After 20 years of holding it down, surely rap's birthplace can do better than that, right?

This is the best song imo. It uses the sample from from Roy Ayers classic

Which is also used in this joint, Valley of the Skinz
