thinly veiled respectability politics... he could easily make an anti gangbanging record without linking it to the deaths of innocents like Trayvon...

all the young brothers out here protesting why highlight the minority of "gangbangers" that might be?

idk man...

overall, i feel like kendrick made his point but coulda done so without the trayvon marton mention. i dont think he was being tit for tat in terms of an unarmed person being killed and their killer not being charged vs the niggas who banging against each other.

just sounded like he was raising the question of how he could care about a black person dying when he'd kill a black person.

its hard to tackle the complexity of the issue in a 4 minute song but hey, atleast it produces talking points.

Indeed. Thanks for bringing that point into the discussion. I do have issue with saying it's hard to tackle the complexities in a short song. He thought about it, wrote it and recorded it. It wasn't freestyle. Therefore, he had to time to ponder over what he wanted to convey. If you are going to make attempts at being profound while espousing support of the black community do so unapologetically and without throwing Blacks under the bus.

lol no he can't. niggas don't wanna hear that shit.....ESPECIALLY the ones at highest risk of getting shot. Harsh but true.

Low expectations... It's been done before... And just because a cat is a "gangster" doesn't mean he/she is completely devoid of the capacity to feel or change. Subconsciously yall buy into some weird shit.

kendrick aint pac

What's your point?

That Kendrick doesn't have the natural charisma of pac to rally all the street thugs and common people and lead them towards a united cause..

Pac had a nation of not only warriors behind him,but scholars as well..

Kendrick delivers powerful music but at the end of the day,its just a studio revolution...He hasnt showed true activism yet..

It's deeper than rap

he conveyed exactly what he wanted to convey; his feelings about him being a hypocrite. he didnt say the black community was hypocrites. he pointed the finger directly at himself.

and IT IS difficult to tackle the complexity of the ENTIRE issue, make it rhyme and not sound stupid or haphazard.

He is speaking about the wider Black community of gangbangers. Unless Kendrick is actually a gangbanger murderer. I didn't know son had bodies on him.

If it's to complex of an issue. STFU and write an essay.

Heat.

Best track ive heard in a long time, the patois on the hook killed it.

First day c....

Nah man you gotta get mature for some shit like this.

First day purchase

songs are just that, songs. i salute the guy for putting the content in the raps...when that shit aint whats "hip".

aint no records gonna FIX the issue at hand. all niggas can do is speak their peace and do what they can for their community and thats it.

I want artists willing to speak up for Blacks to be unapologetic and not distracted by the BS. I am not being contrary but there is no extra salutations to sprinkle upon Kendrick when there are plenty of artists doing what he is doing young, old and in between.

I would just like this done without throwing Blacks under the bus. The implication here is how can you protest when there is Black on Black crime going on. The typical BS run by Whites and weak negroes. Not saying Kendrick is a weak negroe. I think he just spouting off what's safe to say nowadays.

I don't believe in this herb ass nigga and he dont represent me all of sudden. Yall lemmings can get the fuck on with that. But I definitely fuck with the track sonically. It bumps and has a good msg even if the messenger is a fuck nigga.
