i went to see it saturday night. ive read the book and love nat to the fullest but to be truthful this movie was doo doo grits. i was mad when i left. i just spent nine bucks for some shit i should of seen on b.e.t. man now i aint gone lie i got kinda loud when niggaZ was killin crackas. specially when ole boy hit the cracka with the hatchet...but over all i wanted more gore. lil bro told me it didnt have the part with his nigga will killing the white babies but fuck that. they needed that scene for me to even believe this was about my nigga nat. smmfh. i hated this shit. no lie. i cant dig this shit. i still supported the brother but i feel like this was a "run tell that" type of deal. last time i go to the movies in a while.

Very good movie well wrote and acted. I should've knew that young boy wasn't shit when he said you that Turner nigga and he said no I'm Nat. The he gave his punk ass that stare b4 he got executed like I kno wha you did.

Also that scene where the slave master hammered the guys teeth out fawwwwwwwk

Slave masters hammering out teeh aint nothing if yousyousaw goodbye uncle tom then you'd know thats what they i did. On ther strength of that don't know if I I want to see this movie . 12 years a slave

It's right on time tbh. I was just talking to my brother about that the other day. I'm sure you see it though. Just pay attention to the scripture of focus in certain parts of the movie. ParkEric was obviously influenced by Goodbye Uncle Tom, but he also seemed to throw some hints of our hidden history in there too. Great movie.

Finally watched Birth of a Nation and its a solid first film for Nat Parker in directing. Sort of draws inspiration from Braveheart alot , thought it wouldve been more gut wrenching was in some especially that feeding scene. The rebellion was the awe inspiring made me damn proud although the tragic outcome .Its a solid addition to the movies that tackle the pain history of slavery.

man that 12 years a slave aint shit. it didnt even move me. and like i said earlier birth of a nation was ehhh. i dont even remember it. hell i remember more of roots than them two movies. and goodbye uncle tom IS the standard. that shit was like......mind blowing.

then you missed the point of 12 years a Slave , you don't get your point across by just showing the inhuman in the grotesque , its in the nuisance all it all. the opening scene to 12 years a slave >>>>> the whole doc style gonzo shoot of goodbye uncle tom.

i have watched and i liked goodbye uncle tom , but there is no better acted adapted screenplay to a movie , with the physiological effects of day to day slavery life as 12 years a slave.

production wise goodbye uncle tom is poorly acted and poorly directed.
