I like summer on smash, y'all niggas trippin'

It aint gonna be for everybody. Alot of Nas fans are elitist and hate to see him do party tracks like that plus Swizz is always hit or miss. Cool track to me tho, not the best by any means but its cool.

Reach Out is some straight 1993 shit. I don't see how the hell yall were talkin about you don't like it. Shit get me amp and the lyrics resonate. I love it.

I know they already had 3 singles but after Summer on Smash I think Reach Out is a good single they could do a vintage ass video for but I think the Winehouse track would work and You Wouldn't Understand as well. This album has appeal.

Not to the masses it doesn't and Im fine with that cause outside of a few tracks here and there its always been Hip Hop(the culture) to the core. Thats what makes Nas different then everybody else, somehow someway he's able to stay on a major and not venture too far outside.

Especially when the best rappers in the game are closer to 40 or is 40+

Most of the young rappers out today are average at best

Cats like meek, drake, j cole, big sean, wale, etc are average. Why should the vets move out of their way when they not fucking with cats like common, Andre 3k, big boi, busts rhymes, fab, nas and jay on their worst day?

See, thats the mainstream cats. It's some younger cats that's out here spitting with the vets. Aint that many, but you got 25 year olds lyrically on a different level and making personal/mature classic albums as well. The thing is the mainstream ain't got no artists actually doing it for the culture(truthfully, most of the older cats like Busta, Fab, and Jay are on some average shit lately). Nas, to me, is the only true consistent mainstream rapper/artist out here.

Back to the album though.... I like this album more and more I listen to it.

Favorite Tracks are STAY, Loco-Motive, Daughters, Back When, Bye Baby, and Roses.

Only tracks I personally hate are Reach Out and Summer on Smash. I know some folks fuck with it, but I just didnt couldnt rock with it. the second I heard the beat and Swizz on the hook... then I heard the verses.. I was like WTF.... Nas is my dude, but if this song belonged to any other dude, cats wouldnt be fucking with it LOL.

I still can't rock too heavy with You Wouldnt Understand either. IDK Why though, might be the beat.

Overall though, this album is like a 9/10. Nas put some life into mainstream hip hop.... AGAIN.

I also think that to appreciate Life is Good, you gotta have Street's Disciple... I doubt people will get what I mean

I think certain tracks do to an extent. I'm gonna break this album down in a couple weeks.

What do yall honestly think it's gonna sell? I don't wanna overestimate. Jill Scott did 135k first week last summer so I think he should be able to do at least 150k. His singles didn't really chart but he has a good buzz.

That second disc. Haaa....

I think 150-175k just cause of the climate. Hoping for more for Hip Hop's sake.

@Jamaica

Exactly, it's funny outside of a few 20 something emcee's most of all the popular rappers are in their 30's at this point. Nicki is about to be 30 this year, same with Wayne. Ross is mid-30's, NaS, Jay and Em are late 30's to 40's. Dre and Diddy are both in their 40's. Hip Hop has grown up. The Vets shouldn't have to go anywhere. This is where Rakim, KRS, Kane, Kool G Rap went wrong. I love those guys to death but when the young lions came up they should of stayed in the fight. KRS tried, Rakim and Kane disappeared, Kool G tried. They were suppose to be the 1st "Older" rappers to make the transition from youth to adult. But it seems Esco and Hov have brought the shift. NaS and Jay aren't like "OK, ya'll got next", they like please we still here and still moving units so we ain't going no where.

I actually agree with this. However, when you look at the folks mentioned here, the only people putting out classic or quality projects are Nas and to an extent, Jay. Ross in his mid-30s still talking that bullshit. 2 Chainz is fucking 37.

I can say this: Rakim could've capitalized and had a resurgence during the Aftermath days, but Ra's issue is that he's too..... not sure of the word, but that nigga is supposedly a pain in the ass to work with.. then you add Dre... and well... yeah.(LOL at Diddy being mentioned. that nigga should've left a long time ago). Kane disappeared for personal reasons, and KRS became too preachy for the masses. I think with this generation of "older" rappers, they've carved such a blueprint that the newer guys are trying to follow that path and not create their own. Its like people saying Nas re-invented the wheel with LIG. LIG is a classic, but Nas didn't re-invent the wheel, he just made an album that actually FIT for his life and what he is going through. If the younger cats were on some True God shit(self-promo lol), I think they could do more. The newer rappers aren't true to the culture or the game IMO, they're more swag-influenced and punchline-esque which begins to devalue the artistic side of their music IMO.

This shit isn't even funny. I seriously hope he gets fired. The review showed nothing but clear ignorance towards Nas' music.

Same ol', same ol', weak beats and garbage topics??? THA FUCK?!?!

It's one thing to critique an album, but it's another thing to give criticism about something you CLEARLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT... The guy said Nas hasn't developed creatively since Illmatic and he raps about the same old stuff.

This dude is talking like Nas didn't make It Was Written, Stillmatic, God's Son, The Lost Tapes, and Hip Hop Is Dead. Like the only albums he listened to were Nastradamus and Street's Disciple.

As if Nas hasn't blessed us with songs like I Gave You Power, Undying Love, Project Windows, Rewind, I Can, Fetus, Just A Moment, Where Are They Now, N.I.G.G.E.R., and a million other creative and unique songs that only Nas would even attempt to make...

This clown sounds like one of those Pitchfork guys that only loves Kanye West because of his "artistic expression" (aka ego tripping on wax) and then calls every other hip hop legend generic and mundane for not "pushing the envelope" (aka using abstract sounds and poppy vibes to appeal to the mainstream)...

Yeah, his reviews are usually hit or miss.

i know biting is frowned upon in hip hop.. but this needs to be bit to death. I need more music like this in my life.
