Yeah Tom Cruise Does Play The Same Character In Every Movie...Himself...But Hes Done Some Really Good Movies...Born On The Fourth Of July, Eyes Wide Shut, Rain Man, Color of Money....

It's not missing the point, it's simply a difference of opinion. I was addressing your statement about a great actor on TV not being a great actor on film. The elite stuff....I've got my own opinions on that as well but I'm getting tired of discussing it now.

And Affleck is an above average director, but yes his acting leaves alot to be desired. Although I did see some improvement in The Town.

He's A Better Writer Than He Is A Director...The Town Was Just A Bad Scorcese Impression And Gone Baby Gone Was The Spiritual Sequel To Mystic River...Of Course Your Gonna Be Lauded When Your Rippin Off Greats Like Marty And Eastwood

Just finished watching an advanced screening of Seven Psychopaths. This movie was a perfect example of an overrated beyond reason actor and an underrated beyond all reason actor outshing the former...on HIS OWN SHIT! Collin Farrel is the very definition of overfuckingrated....dude is passible at best. Now Sam Rockwell....dude should have a statue by now and be a house hold name.

Ben Affleck is a good actor. He was good in that movie with Crowe. Great in good will hunting. Scorsese rip off is a reach in reference to the town. Gone baby gone is a good movie! Spiritual sequel of mystic river lol!! No son.

Giamatti is amazing in john Adams.

Tucci, Downey Jr. Depp, Giamatti, Crowe, Jamie fox, will smith could play anything

What Movie With Crowe...Gigli? Daredevil? Paycheck? Jersey Girl? Pearl Harbor? What Pray Tell Shitacular Flick Was This "Good Actor" In?

And Yes Stylistically He Ripped Off Scorsese And Eastwood In That Averageass Overrated Piece Of Shit Movie Called The Town And Gone Baby Gone Respectively...

Paul Giamatti Was Also A Beast In Sideways...

You're talking about State of Play?? Never seen it, but will add it to my watch list. How was the movie as a whole?

C/S Gone Baby Gone. The heavyset guy he used in that and The Town..haven't Imdb'd his name but I enjoy his performances for some reason. Hopefully Ben uses him again.

And I must be slippin lately; how the hell did I forget about Good Will Hunting? Ben got the Oscar for writing that didn't he?

Haven't seen Drive or Lincoln Lawyer. Totally forgot he was in Contagion and Red Tails. The guy deserves nothing less than a leading role.

And on another topic, Leo was GOAT in Basketball Diaries. He cemented it for me with that film.

lincoln lawyer was some good shit. matthew mcconaughey got some chops...thought he lost em after a time to kill.

Finished it. Was pretty good for a one-time watch. Little reminiscent of Primal Fear and the final act felt a little rushed but all in all, not bad. I'll give it a 6.5/10.

I would say he hasn't been the lead in an elite level major movie. But he does have elite level acting ability. But as others have said he killed in John Adams.

Quick question I'm from the UK and a film with Matthew McConaghey called Killer Joe is out here, and from the Trailer he's acting looks fucking amazing. Wanted to know if anyone has seen it yet and validate it.

And with the Bryan Cranston thing you have to remember he did comedy roles most famously (especially in Seinfeld) and comedy is not really a respected medium in terms of acting (I don't know why that is) As soon as he starred in a dramatic role everyone got to see his acting ability, and he does both comedy and drama well. Now that's a fucking actor. I'm not saying he's gonna lead a film (but you never know) but all I'm saying is that I think he is an amazing actor LIKE Paul Giamatti (doesn't lead films)

I saw the Town and that was really good - would have liked a better ending though. Yes he is much better as a writer/ director and he knows it. He makes his own films now rather then being in others. He's brother Casey is fucking amazing though - a really good rising star.

And just one more thing (really) Sam Rockwell is a good actor that has not won a number of awards like he should. So that breaks your notion of having to win one to be regarded as ELITE. Brad Pitt is underrated by the way, but this might be because of his looks.

Win, Win is his latest. A must see if you havent seen it already. Any doubters need to see that, and the John Adams joint. I googled dude and he has a interesting background. His father is the late Bart Giamatti, the former MLB commissioner. The man who banned Pete Rose.

Sam Rockwell is a great actor but he is NOT ELITE!

Elite = BobbyD, Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, George Clooney, Jack Nicholson, etc...you cant seriously tell me Sam Rockwell is in that league.

I'm not saying Al Pacino is not good but I feel recently he's just done some shit films. Almost giving him the eddie murphy effect (Was the man back in the day, but he's recent choice in films is killing his legacy). No one's really checking for Al Pacino films unless that his older ones - just being honest.
