I wanted to say Gucci's whole existence but then I forgot that he was the first rapper with the coontastic ability to put an actual chicken on a mixtape cover....we need people like him so we can point our finger and say "Thats a coon".

You guessed he was talking about you personally? We dont look to entertainers for "knowledge" either but when we find it its a bonus....

Let me know when you do go looking for knowledge because I doubt you would recognize it.....

Oh you guys are too smart for me. All this "knowledge" being dropped is such a bonus and is too much for me and my simple mind. I could never recognize it even if it was right in front of me.

The black oasis, Ancient Africa the sacred
The sleeping giant, science, art is your creation
I dreamed that we could visit old Kemet
Your history is too complex and rigid for some Western critics
They want the whole subject diminished
But Africa's the origin of all the world's religions
We praise bridges that carried us over
The battle fronts of Sudanic soldiers, the task put before us

Im going to do a blog on HHG and break that whole song down like I did "Untittled"., and then make a thread about it, gives me chills when I hear it, absolute gospel. Favorite song on the album and best song of 2010.

"Africa must wake up you sleeping sons of Jacob
for what tomorrow may bring, may a better day come
yesterday we were kings can you tell me young ones... who are we today?"

ha ha ha. Nice.

I'm feeling K'naan's verse on Tribal War:

I
drink
poison

Then
I
vomit
diamonds

I
gave
you
Mandela,
Black
Dalai
Lamas

I
gave
you
music

You
enthused
in
my
kindness

So
how
dare
you
reduce
me
to
Donny
Imus

Timeless
in case
we
never
been
acquainted

Flyness
who
made
it

It
gets
duplicated

Mindless
violence

Well
let
me
try
to
paint
it

Here’s
the
5
steps

In
hopes
to
explain
it

One!

Its
me
and
my
Nation
against
the
World

Two!

Then
me
and
my
Clan
against
the
Nation

Three!

Then
me
and
my
Fam’
against
the
Clan

Four!

Then
me
and
my
brother
we
no
hesitation

Uh!

Go
against
the
Fam’
until
they
cave
in

Five!

Now
who’s
left
in
this
deadly
equation?

That’s
right,
it’s
me
against
my
brother

Then
we
point
a
Kalashnikov

And
kill
one
another

I've been listening to "Distant Relatives" for a couple of days now and I'm convinced Nas is as sharp as ever...

I will say that you must have at least an 8th grade education and some culture or most of this will go over your head and too much information at once could make some of you pass out.

I will add more when they come to mind

"The master, the masses, one has power the other one lacks it

guns are power, controlled by asset's, owned by financial forecasters

who are the masters, they are the gangsters, they are the bankers the one's that tax us

the masses they are us, the sheep, the people, divided in classes"

"Dispear" ^^^^(Wacka Floka flame said what...)

"They appeal to the conscious, the Paramount, the Ceasar the monsters,

the grandiose, the martyrs, the hell-on-earth pauper's

Elsworth "Bumpy" Johnson's, the Harlemite's, the Garveyite's

Black is the credit-card we swipe, poppin Dom' tonight-

-for all of mine I can see my self back at the Audubon

Malcolm on the podium shells hit the linoleum

-swipe those, place 'em on display at the Smithsonian

next to only gems that were left behind by holy men......"

"Leaders" ^^^^ (those 4 bars alone are worth Gucci Manes career)

"Some ask me if I feel the Zionist's are real

and in my songs do I plan to expose and reveal

word to the curb thats under these chrome wheel's

my homie's is the only ones I'm taking care of

but severe reality starts to become more clear

and these know-it-all rappers try to come all weird

like they are superior and fans are inferior

and how I balance the streets and the theories of-

-Collegiate literature, I hold mirrors up

give combinatins of pain, joy, fear and love

through my perspective I can see Jah reflection

in the highest definition gettin' high with my brethren

better ask 'em why Africans are dying from circumcision

they lack proper surgeons suffer from malnutrition

underestimate the wealth of their own wisdom

its like its been exchanged for this penicillin"

"In his own words" ^^^^ (those 16 bars are worth the lives of 6 wiggers & 9 wanksta's)

you need to listen to that Africa Must Wake Up track closely because what Nas says at the end is meant for racists.

This prolific album only adds on to Nasir's historic body of work. Its great to see Nas continue to grow as a musician & a man. My favorite tracks so far are count your blessings, dispear, africa must wake up, & my generation. Nas' lyrical display is as good as it has ever been. Sadly as Nas elevates the art of lyricisim some listeners find it too duanting of a task to follow him. Its all good. On a side note, Its good to see that the richer Nas gets, the more socially conscious he becomes.

Can't wait for the solo effort from Nasir...

Hopefully he drops it late in the year...

Q-Tip is Executive Producing... that alone is just genius

I'm gonna make a thread about my thoughts on this in the near future. Look out for that. Love Q-Tip.

And I'ma bookmark this thread until I give the album a couple full listens after I purchase it tomorrow.

I cant think of a better HipHop artist to show people what artistic growth is.

Most artists today are more concerned with crossing-over than with making good music that has substance and a deeper meaning.

some of the best i've heard from nas since stillmatic. i didn't like all of the production, but i dig the theme. africa must wake up, by far, the illest track on the cd. also, damien marley did his artist thing as well, he killt it on patience. i need a couple more days with it to accurately assess the level of overall dopeness.

"Get it right, you only have one first chance

To make one first impression that lasts a lifetime

Reputation supersede itself, do you believe in hell?

Babylon greed for wealth

Do you deceive yourself and let your ego go swell?

And disregard those who most need your help!

Thick skin, the dark won't take my soul

Survive spiritual wars, see my welts "

-Strong Will Continue

"Promised Land I picture Porsches

Basquiat Portraits

Pinky Rings realistic princesses

Heiresses bunch a Kings and Queens

Plus I picture fortunes for kids out in Port-Au-Prince

Powerless they not allowed to fit

But not about to slip

Vision Promised Land with fashion like

Madison Ave Manhattan

Saks 5th Ave and

Rodeo

Relaxing popping labels

Promise Land no fables

This where the truth's told

Use them two holes

Above your nose

To see the proof yo!

Imagine a contraption that could take us back when

The world was run by black men

Back to the future

Anything can happen

If these are the last days

And 100-food waves come crashing down

I get some hash and pounds

Pass around the bud then watch the flood

Can't stop apocalypse

My synopsis is catastrophic

If satellites is causing earthquakes

Will we survive it

Honestly man it's the sign of the times

And the times at hand"

Land of Promise.....................DAMN

"Everything on the planet we preserve and can it

Microwave it and try it.

No matter what we'll survive it.

What's Hue? What's Man? What's Human?

Anything along the land we consumin'.

Eatin', deletin'... ruin.

Trying to get paper.

Gotta have land, gotta have acres

So I can sit back like Jack Nicholson

Watch niggaz play the game like the Lakers

In a world full of fifty-two fakers,

Gypsies, seances, mystical prayers...

You superstitious? Throw salt over your shoulders

Make a wish for the day 'Cuz

Like somebody got a doll of me

Stickin' needles in my arteries

But I can't feel it"

Favorite songs so far.. Patience, Disappear, and Africa Must Wake Up. But many many many many gems dropped throughout the album. Only listened to it twice thus far..

Only thing tho on a few songs I noticed they talkin' a different language on some choruses and shit. Anyone have a translation? For example the chorus of Patience.. Not Damian spittin'/singin'. Talking about some of the songs which I'd guess they were speaking some African language? Mostly in few choruses or breaks at the end of songs or during a few songs. Interesting irony in that...
