No matter who wins... Ye gonna throw a bitchfit if he dont get album of the year at the grammies...

If Adele does win for 21 I'm sure he'll get album of the year because I can't think of another album that's had a bigger impact on music between Grammy eligibity... He'll at least get best rap album!

I've been listening to kanye heavy for the past few weeks...i gotta say MBDTF is my least favorite kanye album (I haven't listened to 808s)

College dropout is waaaaay more of a classic than this...It was just too raw and had that straight hungry passion in it plus the production was extra soulful. Now THAT was a classic...

MBDTF is a solid album don't get me wrong..but like others said it was kinda over produced and had too many features.

Late Registration has way more of a reasonable claim to classic status than this.

Agreed, but I think I might put MBDTF over "Graduation"

IMO MBDTF is about a 4.25/5. Close to classic, but not quite.

If it wasn't for that garbage song at the end "Lost In The World" and maybe one or two others, I think the album would be a perfect 5/5.

Same thing that brought "Graduation" down for me. That wack "Drunk & Hot Girls" with Mos Def (and I love Mos' music)

Fuck yeah. I personally think length is the only thing that henders it from being "Certified"

Still a classic, imo

It's really the only album from the last two years I listen too. 808 was awful. I like College Dropout and LR.

I think it was the best produced album. It was somewhat concurrent with the times. I liked it. I don't know, I think it was a classic but all CD's have skip tracks to me. ALL CD's. MBDTF was no exception.

I only skip Lost in the World. Every song in this album was Kanye's sendoff before insanity. After this Kanye's narcissism went to the roof. There was so much human emotion in this album, but after Watch the Throne he became unrelateable. If Kanye chooses to release another solo album, it will never be on this level ever again.

Around every ye release he features on singles That takes the shape of what his next album will sound like. Like the poster above said 808's was him dealing with heartbreak and the death of his mom, mbdtf was the intensification of those emotions and WTT was the final stages. Next album should definitely worth listening to being that IMO this album is a classic (next to LR and CD in that order)

MBDTF is a classic, i got friends who hate hip hop and kanye and still like this album

i can see a bubble gum rap fan or a butthurt faggot hating on this tho

Kanye>>>

Since when does the bold automatically mean an album is good? It just means that it appeals to people who don't follow the genre, which honestly can be a bad thing sometimes. Hell, there are plenty of white people out there that buy every Eminem album but can't stand rap. That doesn't mean Eminem only drops classics.

Amazing Album, although its good enough to be a classic, its not his best album its just his most creative album i think Late Registration is the true classic

This thread made me listen to the album and honestly critique it...

with that said

Classic Piece of material

SUPERB production

Great Lyrical content

GREAT Overall Theme and Storyline

a Year later still an enjoyable listen.... I'm pretty sure we will be able to say the same 5, 10, 20 years later. Classic.

It seems like one of those albums that fans of the artist will ride or die for which fans are prone to do. And everyone else is a little less impressed and probably sees it for what it is.

Also if people don't know MBDTF has received the highest critical response and scores of any Kanye West album including College Dropout... Pitchfork gave it 10/10, it received a 94 from metacritic (an insanely high score if you know that site), Rolling Stone gave it 5 stars, The Source gave it 5 mics, XXL gave it a XXL.... The New York Times said it was one of the most complete albums of amy genre in this time... It is a classic

Yeah because publications like Rolling Stone and The New York Times set the standard for what is great Hip Hop. I bet you think the best Rap albums always win the Grammys too huh?
