Yeah, I think one of Ali's biggest regrets was having to 'disown' Malcolm under the NOI's orders (allegedly), I read they were really tight, like brothers and he was a massive help for Ali in the Liston fights, but it was around the time the NOI kicked Malcolm out, so the NOI I believe told Ali to stop communicating with him...
