The problem with the list is, they categories that they chose is too subjective and based on people's biases and opinions. If they are gonna do these thinks, base it on concrete shit like (sales, concert tickets, radio spins, endorsements) so it doesn't leave room for criticism. When you base your list off dumb shit like SWAG, it's kind of hard for people to take you serious, that's some opinion (borderline gay) type shit imo.
As for their list, i don't see how you can make Ross number 1. Kanye clearly outsold his fat ass, make a album that was critically acclaimed, went on a successful tour, won a bunch of Grammy's, and running a successful label.
Wen it comes strictly about Muzik quality, album quality then Rick Ross definitley rightly so was number 1 on the list his Muzik n albums been alot nicer den Kanyes albums and is a better Rapper than Ye and has better beats on his albums than Ye. Rick Ross does wat Ye can't appeal to a street demographic.
They factored in street buzz, Swag-&-Intangibles, impact and other ingredients that the average fan might ignore or not understand.
If you look at what Rozay did from a label perspective with the signings and the distribution deal he's easily the hottest in that category.
While Kanye West and JayZ shared their spotlight together and catered their project to the Euro's YMCMB were doing their HipHop version of the Village people and expanding Hip-Pop. MMG was the only mainstream label to keep it street and keep it HipHop without the cut on it so that's Impactful from a cultural perspective. Impact.
Drake easily sold more albums but ironically people talk about "Lord Knows" & "Stay Scheming" like those are the hottest tracks he dropped last year and they both included Rozay. Rich Forever is up to 1 million downloads on DatPiff even tho it was a Live-Mixtapes exclusive.
When you look at the visual output of MMG with the Vids & Vlogs you can't deny they got that on lock, their Branding is crazy especially if you look at Meek who reps the brand and has 2011 endorsements from Ciroc, Reebok, Marc Eko and his own skating-line.
I was happy to see 9 Black folks on a panel using street buzz and other criteria that these white panels are clueless about to make a list that's more in tune with the culture and the fans who's input is usually ignored.
