Why couldn't they just make the niggas tight friends and not gay?

Because its based on the life story of the gay playwright who wrote it?? lol

Did u just suggest Baby Boy was worthy of Oscar recognition?

I'm reading articles about Moonlight in the papers and it's White people loving it because they perceive Black people 'homophobic' naturally... and homosexuality being a taboo subject

I dont read the reviews u speak of but are we gonna pretend the black community isnt prone to be homophobic?

Just read thru this thread and u can see thats true

better make him John Stewart in a new Green Lantern movie

an Oscar winning coming of age film shot in Miami? I think i'll check it out when it hits digital. only I'll have to fast forward the brokeback scene.

Movie was meh.

I watched it on the Amazon Firestick a few weeks back.

There was nothing special or original about the storyline other than the gay angle and that was no more than 20-30 screentime minutes of the nearly 2 hour movie.

The rest of it was a big buildup to basically nothing there was basically no real issue or controversy in the movie, most of the time movies have an issue or controversy that needs to be solved however there was nothing there with this movie.

Exactly to me it felt like it could been a great film but they either ran outta budget to really go into the character development or they just were lazy. It coulda been a lot better.

I remember over a decade ago... another gay themed movie was favourite for the Best Picture award at the Oscars and surprisingly a movie about race beat it (Brokeback Mountain & Crash) ... but the major players in the gay cowboy flick were White

I think there’s discussions to be had on why Moonlight had such a universal affection from (White) audiences when similar movies about 'coming of age' involving Black men have been made numerous times but without the main protagonist being gay...

John Singleton has been mentioned in this thread and I saw Babyboy last month. A classic coming of age Black movie if you ask me. No recognition though

Baby Boy was a comedy lol

I meant more of an unintentional comedy. The acting was hilarious.

Congrats on it winning award(s) but to me that movie wasn't worth shit.

Watching it on kodi for free was the best thing about it.

The reviews this movie got is why I don't pay attention to movie reviews.

Yo..

I had no fucking idea that this dude was Prince Ali from Heiroglyphics! I had heard verses from him, but never saw a pic! Amazing what this guy has done!

It was decent, I wasn't all that impressed. Maybe if I had watched it before the movie winning a Oscar my perspective would be different, but I doubt it.

The acting was good but the writing was decent. I'd give it a 7/10.
