Shit i missed it? What happened?
Greg, Stew, Jay, Cham, and Sion all attended...
Greg went over his vision versus Maven's philosophy, talked about how they initially reached out to him with their vision, and about some of the stuff we talked about last year when we linked up them in Seattle. he went on to say that he's NOT abandoning the new IC, and noted that the new AHH is doin what it's supposed to, as far as viewers and engagement.
he then mentioned that he's still been working with the Maven team, who are all very talented, and the fact that we've got 3 new layouts coming out, prolly within the next month. he also apologized for the backlash, and revealed how the Maven's roll-out plans were initially more concerned about websites that were created in the aftermath of Facebook and Google, and not necessarily messageboards that were attached to said websites.
he is aware of ABlackWeb, and is well-versed about where the site came from. we didn't talk about this for long.
he also reiterated that we're in for future growth. the Maven recently purchased Hubpages (they didn't partner with them, like they've done with us and other websites, they bought this company outright), which is expected to send us more traffic in the future.
he went on to say that in the future, the messageboard game will change. ppl who make good content will eventually be able to receive pay for said content, possibly via blockchain (whether or not the pay comes via blockchain or some other way, in the future these content providers will be getting paid). the mods are pretty much at the forefront, since we get to see new features first, so he advised us to tighten up our thread-making skills, as well as to get (more) familiar with the site.
Greg also revealed that he had been a lil worried that the fact that Blue Lives Matter is also a Maven-affiliated site now, and that he had anticipated far more backlash then we actually got. he had a pretty good analogy for it, but I'm unable to recall it atm. we had talked about it back in Seattle, but talking about it and having to actually deal with it are two diff things, lol
Stew asked questions about what we should continue to do in the meanwhile, while we're waiting for the new stuff/layouts/posters. the answer was, keep making threads, and to support each others' threads.
Jay asked about the availability of the apps, and was told in the near future. Apple app is already completed, Android app just went into beta. if u haven't jumped on the app yet, you're missin out.
Sion offered his support, regarding keeping our current/past posters engaged. Greg made mention that we didn't have to necessarily try to win them back, as long as we focused on maintaining the current site.
Cham made the point that the IC has been down for months at a time, and got killed for it in the process (remember "Back by Thanksgiving?"), but once the site was hitting on all cylinders again, we did regain most of our traffic (the traffic that didn't migrate to social media, that is).
prolly forgetting some stuff, but I think that pretty much covered it. productive call.
