it's not that tough to do, if the info is information that is available to the general public without hacking then it is not illegal.

it's the same as tabloids and or the news.

it just seems a whole lot meaner cause the average joe is doing it.

all it is is journalism just on a poster.

now when we get into the phishing side of things that's when i would say we have to step up our effort.

thats illegal and the site can be held accountable for. private info like ssn, bank info, anything that can't really be found with google. which is a much smaller list.

Yeah, I agree with all of this. I'm just saying the average Joe is giving his or her name to the posters who generally always try to do their 'journalism'. It helps them greatly to locating and finding information that could be used to help with their illegal 'ish.

I don't know everything about how it works; but I do know that having your age, real name and photo handed to someone on the I.C. is more than a start towards them getting a real 'exposure' on you.

I'm not a fan of exposures at all. I was here before the donkey was a haven for exposures. Cats used to textually diss other posters. It's partly the mods faults (past and present) for letting them become a part of the culture of the ic. That needs to change. Oh yeah I agree ruffdraft Facebook and twitter being integrated to this site is a bad idea.

I see I didn't address this properly at first, so I'm laying it out now. OTT (Ducky) and Choice (Johnny Green), aren't welcome on the board. When I spoke on this earlier, I thought yall meant keeping people out of your specific forums, which is the mod's discretion. But the 2 I just named, we've played this game long enough...

Ducky's already been banned. I don't think Choice has. Both have things keepin'em busy offline at the moment, but both will attempt to post sooner or later.

Please make sure we aren't allowing people to "attack" or "expose" anyone either.

This...may be problematic.

Greg's the head honcho around here, so his word goes. That being said, there's a lotta stuff that we as mods/admins can only take so far. There's one website people can go to, for free, enter in a given person's screen-name, and pull up addresses, names, and phone numbers. That's just one website. And the posters know this.

We're tryna create a comfortable atmosphere here. Where folks can chill and pass time, be a community. But we're also known as "The World's Most Dangerous Website" (even though the folks at 4chan might have a better claim on that one, lol). So mods, use common sense. If someone's creating an unsafe atmosphere, and u don't know how to handle the situation, just defer it to admin. A simple pm'll do. Each case is gonna be different somehow, but we're tryna promote a consistent environment. Mods WILL be threatened, so when you're threatened, don't let it phase u (I know most of yall have been here awhile and know the ropes, but there are newer mods reading this as well).

Excercise common sense...but let the admin handle it. The newer admin handle technical support and don't police posters per se. But if it's a situation where Suchnsuch was banned, and is now back, just let us know.

If there are any questions to what I've just posted, lemme know.

The Twitter and Facebook integration has been a minute in coming. But it's here now, and not really an option to un-do. People are gonna get caught up, that's the nature of new technology, versus people who are bored/have a lotta time on their hands. I actually welcome the feature cuz it'll help bring in new blood around here. But we already know there's gonna be at least a few victims who are not used to how things run here...

The feedback is definitely appreciated though.

@IcyLiquid

@Toddo

on the lights down theme (forum display). make all the THREAD TITLES white text, but leave all the user names red how they are now

and make the TEXT AREA for the reply boxes (when inside a thread) a dark gray, perhaps the same gray as the reaction icons

^^^ this = perfect layout

dont forget to make the check out to X.___UPTOWN CONNEXX___

LOL

Just to clarify my position:

I don't condone exposures. I'm not known for cheerleadin'em when they're goin on, but I'm not trying to be givin the blind eye when they occur either. I just don't want mods to be drawn in just cuz this person added Suchnsuch on Facebook, only for Suchnsuch to put their pics, real name, and relatives on blast 2 months later cuz they couldn't get any azz outta the deal. That's why I'm sayin each one will have its own circumstances and whatnot. I do NOT condone exposures.

i'm with yall on exposures...i'll do my best to keep an eye out for them when i am online...however i was more referring to the "attack" part.....

i mean....seriously...in the donkey...one comment can lead to a poster making a entire series of threads about you,,,for example donkey posters cap b and blank went at it viciously yesterday...much to the amusement of the entire subforum, but are we to immediately shut threads liek that down simply because they were "attacking" eachother????

i mean seriously if you know the history of those 2 posters....the verbal back and forth will become intense almost immediately with neither one letting up for even a second...now while NO ONE expects either to go to a mod or admin for help, as they both will likely go after someone else the next time they're online....is it reasonable to for us to start polcing these types of exchanges??

@du blank and cap going at each other is different.

and i agree, that's why i was trying to get clarity...

i know in other forums it might be important to keep things from getting outta hand, and even untolerated at all...but the donkey is a different machine ....we all can agree to that...

I'll give this a try. You mean the titles when I'm looking at the forum and topic lists right?

*blows kisses*

Hey yall :)

I like this upgrade far more than any of the past ones . The PR doesn't get alot of traffic or drama . I apprecaite any suggestions on improving the room. The only one I can think of is more male posters posting in the PR. I know that sounds off.. but honestly the ladies of the IC like the male attention and they don't get it in the PR so they tend to shy away. Yet complain about being called a bitch or smut etc....
