i dont get how it can be anyone but 50 or G-Unit.. they started in 1999 with POTD and ran shit til 2007 (not debatable), and then Banks picked back up in late 08 with the 5 or Better series.

Joe Budden (name ANYTHING better than MM2)

Lloyd Banks (Big Withdraw was that SHIT)

50 & G-Unit (Those mixtapes were killing EVERYTHING when they dropped)

G-Unit, Jadakiss/D-Block, Slaughterhouse and Chamillionaire are on the forefront. Those artists did what mixtapes are designed to do: get me hyped for their retail albums. Some people can throw Lil' Wayne in there because the result was The Carter III selling a million the first week, but for me Wayne had been overexposing himself, making me not want to buy his albums.

early part of the decade 50 from like 06 and on wayne has been killing it. Banks has dropped alot of mixtapes the last 2 years but not as much as wayne . styles p had alot to

As far as quality it goes.

1. Wayne - On a national level this isnt debatable

2. Dipset - A movement like no other

3. 50/G-Unit - Started the mixtape explosion and in the beginning it was fire. Tapered off significantly after 04.

People saying Banks but outside of the net, no one is checking for him. A casual listener couldnt even tell you the last Banks mixtape

Which is why your opinion is null and void. You don't hear the rest of the country so it's a regional thing for y'all.

Bwahahahaahaha, yall must live in a bubble. Niggas started checking for Wayne during the Squad Up mixtapes. Sq4 came out around 2004. Dedication 1 is considered a mixtape classic. Joe Buddens would win the award for best mixtape series by internet nerds. I bet casual hip hop listeners dont even know what the series is called. But EVERYONE knows about the Dedication series. As far as G-Unit, yeah they were hot in the beginning, but after about 2004 they fizzled. Niggas dont even remember the last time banks put out a mixtape.
