Jay-Z

Eminem

Mos Def

Kool G Rap

Strong nosign on the emcees that are crossed out..

I don't find this at all Flamatory or Crazy to think Biggie Is The Greatest Lyricist Of All Time. He sure does have a case.

And to the poster that Jay-Z is a better lyricist than Biggie? You must out your fucking mind, Im not saying Jay-Z isn't a great lyricist but if he's so much better than Biggie lyrically then why does he has to take insert Biggie's rhymes into his lyrics? I know it may be homeage but that just proves have great Biggie was.

Also just cause someone spit awhole buch of multi's that doesn't make them the best lyricist. Lyricism has many different levels. Some people might be quick to name Pun or Eminem better than Biggie cause of their rapid fire multi's but Big can go bar for bar with both of them.

As for the Famous Line. Biggie actually spits Mad Entendra's in that line:

"Brawl Nights, I perform like Mike, Anyone, Tyson, Jordan, Jackson, Action, Pack Guns"

Brawl Nights = Fight Nights = Boxing (The Song samples Rocky Score)

Tyson, Jordan, Jackson = At one time all 3 Mike's were all considered the best in their fields and many still feel they are the best. Big is basically calling himself THE GOAT on wax with the comparison.

Jackson, Action, Pack Guns =

Action_Jackson.jpg

After refering to Michael Jackson. By saying "Action, Pack Guns" after he's also refering to the 80's Film "Action Jackson. This is a Triple Entendra cause "Action Jackson" stars Carl Weathers who played Apollo in "Rocky". Victory samples the score "Going The Distance" From Rocky.

Biggie had a lot of amazing bars but I'm willing to say this was probably his sickest and my favorite bars from him.

Dam that was BIGGIE's line! Shame on me for not knowing that sh**.... Up most respect for MIKE TYSON schooling me and the 90's was my era smh...and I really liked that line too no wonder....i bet alotta people outside the IC think when the remys in the system line is jays too....Only so long u can pass it off as paying homage

Or Canibus? Man, are you hearing this?

Can't really say much about Chino XL, but don't sleep on Ras Kass, he shit aint' trash:

Canibus (He said Big was the GOAT, so)

Ras Kass (Naw, but he's underrated)

Pharoahe Monch (Can't put him above Big but he's underrated)

Rakim (Argument)

Big Pun (Argument)

Chino XL (Naw)

Common (Argument)

Nas (Argument)

Jay-Z (Took to many Biggie rhymes to be put above him)

Eminem (Argument but even Em had trouble with Big's Mic Presence on Dead Wrong and that was early Big)

Mos Def (Love Mos, but No)

Kool G Rap (Argument)

***Anticipates several wacks and nosigns***

All of those guys are really good lyricist for sure so I can't knock the list. But You have to understand, Big was a great lyricist cause he got the most with less. He didn't need a million bars. He just needed a few to really get his point across. Also his Mic Presence and Delivery really accented his wordplay. Someone could look on paper and see a Biggie rhyme but you have to Hear him spit to understand it and how his wordplay works.

For real, niggaz think that you need to rap fast to be a GOAT lyricist. Biggie's style may not be as agile as Canibus or Eminem, but he's got such a presence on the mic thanks to his delivery and charisma.... biggie was able to spit rhymes that emcees continue to bite and quote till this day. Just think of all the cats he's influenced....Biggie definately among the GOAT, no question

Don't talk to that nigga about Em. He's one of the biggest Em haters on this board.

Biggie was definitely not what I would call a lyricist. His delivery and flow are what made him stand out. Not his wordplay, metaphors, or anything else that has to do with lyrics IMO.

So you saying Big's Lyrics didn't stand out? Is that why the entire came can't stop quoting them? It's true that with Biggie it was a like a combination of skills that made him dope. He wasn't just dope in 1 or 2 things. He was dope at almost everything. This is why I believe he was one of the most complete rappers of all time. Delivery and Flow were his top strength's but you can not sleep on him lyrically. His wordplay and Lyrics on songs like "Warning" or "Who Shot Ya" was crazy.

Exactly what I was saying. His delivery and flow are king, but his lyrical ability is camouflaged. He blends in with everyone else. His lyrics don't stand out like say a Nas.

Here's a breakdown of some Big Lyricism from that Shaq Verse Sion posted:

Watch they entourage turn yours to just mirages

Disappearing acts
, strictly nines and macs

Killers be serial, Copperfield material

Mirage = is a naturally occurring optical phenomenon in which light rays are bent to produce a displaced image of distant objects or the sky. = Disappearing Acts.

By saying he will turn your Entourage to a Mirage, he's saying that he will make them disappear. But entendre comes in when he says, "Copperfield Material". David Copperfield is an illusionist who makes things "Disappear" in his "Acts" or "Shows".

LOL @ 'Biggie Tarintino'....that shit is straight up Mafioso. i luv it!

The Alfred Hitchcock of Hip Hop

Man, this song gives me chills everytime I listen to it......that's what we call presence, and you have to be a lyricist to have that effect on listeners. It's just as much of a craft as wordplay or storytelling is....

People keep stressing the technical aspects of lyricism - but lyricism is a full package, and it's rare to find an emcee who has it all like Biggie. You don't believe me, check out this joint. Biggie straight up MERKS this preemo beat! Pun would have killed it....Nas too...but none would have done it like Biggie. He's got a style all of his own, that no one else has been able to master, in terms of delivery, presence, and charisma...that's why they call this joint ''UNBELIEVABLE''

B-I-G, G-I-E, AKA, B.I.G

Get it? Biggie

Nope.. he's good at multisyllabic rhyme patterns, but his albums and beat selections are trash to me.. and for Jay to be "murdered" on Renegade would mean that Jay's verses was subpar/mediocre, and that's not the case at all..

Canibus first two albums were aiight, but the beats on those albums were bland..

Chino XL is wack to me, and Ras Kass ain't trash.. Soul On Ice wasn't a bad albums by any means..
