lol @ em is garbage, If BIG was alive he would be sure to tell you how ridiculous that is, just like most rappers would, you know, those who actually do this shit and know what they are talking about, smh, talk about lyricism and some of you lot discounting people absolutely, learn to have some fucking balance to your perspective.

However you look at it,http://rapgenius.com/posts/1669-The-rapper-s-flow-encyclopedia

This is also a good analysis

I don't find this at all Flamatory or Crazy to think Biggie Is The Greatest Lyricist Of All Time. He sure does have a case.

And to the poster that Jay-Z is a better lyricist than Biggie? You must out your fucking mind, Im not saying Jay-Z isn't a great lyricist but if he's so much better than Biggie lyrically then why does he has to take insert Biggie's rhymes into his lyrics? I know it may be homeage but that just proves have great Biggie was.

So because he quotes Biggie a few times means he can't be a better lyricist? Nice logic.

Jay-Z, to me, is a better lyricist cuz his lyrics usually have more depth than Biggie's. His overall content might be repeated at times but when we talk lyrics? Jay, no doubt. Jay-Z drops alot of metaphors, entendres and shit that sometimes even i don't catch. Biggie was not a bad lyricst either though. He was witty, humorous and could paint a good picture but i still say that he wasn't/isn't a better lyricist than Jay-Z. I don't think Biggie could do a song like "D'evils" as well as Jigga did with the ill metaphors and references for instance.

Let's keep it official, the real reason people enjoy Biggie, other than being a dead celebrity, was cuz of his diverse catalogue. That was really Puff's doing though. Puff is the one who produces the records, meaning he brings in the singers, he picks a certain sound and what have you.

Like i said though Jay got to live longer and do more albums so nobody knows how Biggie would've turned out, but that is also a reason people should stop overrating him and 2pac just cuz they're dead. I'm a fan of both btw.

A few times? Cmon stop it be honest with yourself....Jay-Z didnt blow until his third album while BIGGIE shook the game up with his first two but yet you wanna sublminally imply that Bigs career might of not been as great as jays if he was still here? And Big & Pac is still talked about today not cause theyre deaths but because of the phenomanal artist that they were and the music that they left behind. I remember usmarine the biggest jigga stan in here said bigs career might of been method man status and no disrespect to mef but no f***in way. Im not a fortune teller but I know big and pacs had what it took to make music that could generate through times. Ready to die was about as grimy as can be didnt even have the radio hit version of "one more chance" on it and it still sold, then he managed to switch it up a tad on his second with a lil more commercial appeal while still giving you those hardcore tracks maintaining that balance for his fans only to sell more records is pure evidence that BIG new how to keep up with the times.....

Wtf are you talking about? That was not what i said at all. I said who knows how Biggie would've turned out, meaning he might've had good and a bigger catalogue so it might be unfair to compare them is what i'm saying. What does blowing have anything to do with being a better lyricist? So because Jay-Z blew up after a few years means he can't be a better lyricist? SMH.

Turn off the stan in you dickhead. You're clearly rambling on with emotion and putting words in my mouth.

Uh, but he had "Juicy" and "Big Poppa" so what are you saying? "Ready To Die" was Puff basically doing what Death Row were doing. They used alot of funk samples while rapping about street shit with a smooth flow (aka what Snoop was famous for, listen to Biggie pre-Doggystyle/Half the records that were recorded a few years prior on Ready To Die while on Uptown Records/"Party And Bullshit" etc), with Puff doing his best marketing strategy for his Bad Boy company, like Suge did with Death Row, which was to make themselves become stars and personify what their label brand was about. Suge = street image, Puff = flossy/drug dealer image. And why are you talking about his singles when i never mentioned any of that?

No that is not why they were talked about. Snoop Dogg was bigger than 2pac and Biggie and what happened? The reason why their death had a huge impact was because they were popular when they died and because of the whole debate about the content of hip-hop and gangster rap at the time, which had been going on since the NWA days. So their death symbolized a day where the hip-hop community got to learn something and grew, that is why their death became so big. It was a wake up call saying no matter how big you are if you involve yourself in those surroundings it'll come back and haunt you. Lol @ because of their music.

First well its obvious you know dam well jay used biggie lines more than a few times which is why you skipped past that part, second the "turn out" statement I made was a false assumption so Ill give you that u explain yourself, Third I never said that was the reason it made BIG a better lyricist I was refering to that turn out statement you made as far as his career goes but again it was a misunderstanding. As far as everything else better lyricist & why they are still talked about today boils down to opinion agree to disagree im not gonna keep going back and forth resulting to name calling on the internet cause its corny. And im not a BIG stan had u said nas stan then u might of had a case j/k.

I know this ain't really related, but if that beef shit with Nas and Biggie really got going, this makes me think Biggie would've held his own....but then again, we all know how beef brings out the animal in niggaz like Nas, ether '97

Okay, more than a few? Alot? Doesn't really matter. You kinda nitpicked on a small thing bruh. My point wasn't how many times he used Biggie's lyrics my point was just even if he used his lyrics it still doesn't mean he can't be considered a better lyricst. That was all i meant.

No doubt. Like i said it might sound like i'm not into BIG but i really am. I fuck with alot of rappers yo. Nas is probably together with Cube my favorite MC's of all time. At one time i thought Biggie had Jay too but then looking and really diggin through it my opinion changed, but of course just my opinion.

Cross out Em, Chino, Big Pun, Ras Kass (he fell off too hard)... they all garbage

and add on...

Ghostface

Black Thought

Raekwon

Jadakiss

What makes these guys better 'lyricists' than Biggie?

Diction

Word Play

Syllable Structure

Metaphors

Punches

Out of that list, Big doesn't come close to any of them lyrically except Kiss.
