So because men choose not to get married, they are not men or they're immature ? FOH What about a female who doesn't want to get married ?

Or what about 2 people who get divorced ?

LMAO. Social Sciences: let's make shit up and find some convenient facts to substantiate it.

Gimme a fuckin' break. While I think it's a topic worth discussing. Men have been "stuck in perpetual boyhood" for decades. This is nothing new.

Hell yeah. My dad's 3rd marriage is about to end. My uncle's second marriage is ending soon. All my cousins that got married have been divorced. and I mean All. Barring one, who's on the verge. The writing's on the wall for me. Why test fate?

wait, so you bolded what you strongly agree with as some personal reason as to why you haven't been committed to or found a man yet?

Because you're saying they're aren't any???

Stupid.

Yes, males roles are fucked up these days but so are women's

In many aspects they both share the same problems...

And I love how you selectively bolded yet failed to bold one important line

"The only woman among these authors, syndicated columnist Parker argues in her antifeminist book that there is a smear campaign against men"

And the major problem?

You women complain but continously support this "trend" this Cross dude speaks of by giving them the time of day...

Then when the shit doesn't work out...you come here to post some shit that you found to support your dileema/arguement...

Support the good and the true...

Stop wasting your time with the trivial and maybe you will find what you're looking for...if not...fuck it...just build yourself up...

What's so hard about that?

Did you read the excerpt in it's entirety? It doesnt say it's new, it says exactly the same thing that it has been happening for decades

how does that one line negate the entire context of the excerpt.? are you looking for an excuse to dismiss the entire thing because you are unwilling to admit the validity of it?

I highlighted key parts of the excerpt for those with ADD who may not want to read everything so they will still get the context.

It has nothing to do with women giving anyone the time of day. It's aobut men and their role in society and how manhood is defined. that has nothing to do with women....AT ALL

Not it didn't. It cited people like Hugh Hefner, and things in the past like media proliferation and feminism as reasons why this phenomenon is coming to a head currently.

Lmao

Itdid say it's nothing new

Saying that it's a product of generations of men being coddled is the same thing

Y'all pretty much are agreeing on the same thing

I'm not sure why you're arguing with coby doe

Marriage is anti-man and pro-woman. Isn't this shit just reverse psychology to get men to buy into it ?

"You're not a man if you don't get married."
"Oh yeah bitch, I'll show you"

Nonetheless, Cross provides an interesting take on the history and development of boy-men, which he argues began in the 1950s. He points out that popular TV shows watched by boys in the 1950s and 1960s were child-friendly versions of the Old West, e.g., Gunsmoke, and other examples of watered-down masculinity, e.g., The Courtship of Eddie's Father. He cites Hugh Hefner's playboy, hedonistic, pleasure-seeking persona as the envy of many men who wished simply to live a carefree life and be surrounded by beautiful women.

so saying it began in the 50's and 60's is not saying it has been happening for decades?

wooosah

@ haute. they just want to argue with me for the sake of arguing with me. smh

immaturity maybe?...lol

So the "boy-man" gets to watch whatever TV show he wants and keep 100% of his take-home pay .... and the problem with this is ?

If we choose to throw the term "REAL man" out there and base it on a 1950s way of thinking...

Then it ONLY applies to "REAL women" who stay in the kitchen, and tend to the children...

If you disagree with being a homemaker wife, "barefoot and pregnant philosophy" then the aformentioned artical holds little to no weight.

lol!!! ahhhh you know niggas don't read on the IC...fair enough

And I didn't say "women giving anyone the time of day" I asked are your motives based behind men not giving YOU the time of day...

What is the purpose of your thread is what I am asking?

And the context you suggested states that men, not some men, 50 percent men but men as a whole are boys in grown bodies who still live with their mother...essentially

That statement is completely biased and unfound...

There are men well in their manhood...plenty on the IC...

And yes that line negates all because it acknowledges the bull behind the article

So what is the purpose of your thread?

no dude. manhood is manhood and has nothing to do with women whatsover. and you should be able to define before you even get with women. your role in society has nothing to do with women.

what is and should be your role in society? that's what we are talking about hun

this article has nothing to do with me. I am not a man and nor do I have anything to do with men and their inability to define their role in society.

do you really not understand the purpose of the thread?

the purpose of the thread is to understand how manhood is defined and find out how men view themselves and their role in society. I cant be anymore clear than that

anything else you talking is irrelevant

and that one line does not negate anything because I highlighted that womans key points and she also cited that the male role is declining in society

"the purpose of the thread is to understand how manhood is defined and find out how men view themselves and their role in society. I cant be anymore clear than that"

So you took to some article that aligned with what you feel as correct instead of using several to get a broader spectrum and a more unbiased approach to an issue you felt that needed to be discussed on the IC?

And for who? Was it something you found as a revelation to you that you wanted to share? Or you felt it as a wake up call?

Again, your purpose...

I understand what the article saying...I'm just trying to understand your message, your motivation...

Because I don't see the sense in it if you wanted to know for yourself, you should have male figures in your life to learn from...or at least you would question the IC

It can't be that...

So its some sort of wake up call thread of some sorts...

So I asked you earlier was this the reaction to men who have failed you in your life????

Even the way you responded to other posters seem like you're some scorned woman...

So is it a wake up call or what? Because you could have dropped this in the powder room for real yo
