damn i usually fuck with rottentomatoes' ratings. obviously i ain't seen the movie yet, but just based on the trailers, the hype, & the people involved (snyder, nolan, goyer), ain't no way this movie shouldn't be sitting on at least an 80 for right now. i imagine this movie going the thor route & they gave that a 77...iron man 2 was trash got a fuckin 73....so yea...only thing i can chalk this up to is hate.

Fuck them critics bruh. Man of Steel was EPIC. I've seen it twice. So beautiful. So massive. I'm absolutely convinced that there will be a huge divergence between the critics and the general audience (and fanboys alike). SMH at these mofos that aint never picked up a comic book in they life trynna tell us what Superman is supposed to be.

Bruh, they really gave iron man 2 that 73 rating?!

GTFOH

The critics are just hating/retarded.. Cant wait to see MOS

Question, why do critics even exist this day & age? Who actually stops the self from seeing a movie, based solely the opinion of a critic??

People who don't want to waste their time with something that may not appeal to them.

oh man, I know why some people are mad about it. It wont make a difference to me, because I see superheroes, DC Comics heroes in particular, in a different light than i guess that average movie goer. It;s not THEIR superman. It's not the Superman THEY grew up with.

I still think, no, I KNOW, that Im going to love it.

O gotdammit he said non spoiler alert that bastard lied be careful reading that but from I did read he seemed to expect more comic book scenes specifically I'm ok with them changing the story up and not follow the comics front to back so closely keeps me guessing either way I don't give a shit what anyone says I'm seeing this dammit the superman movie where he trades punches is what I've been waiting for

No the section he labeled non spoiler did have no spoilers in it. Right after that is the spoiler review which is labeled as such and probably what you read. I didn't read that section myself because I haven't seen the movie yet.

Most of these people know the DC icons based on their media adaptations only and you and I both know how dramatically different those could be from a lot of the comic books at times because you & I have been big DC Comics fans for years.

Bryan Singer's Superman and Richard Donner's Superman were both different from each other despite shallow similarities & both were very different from many comic book incarnations of the character including the most mainstream version available when those movies were each in production and the critics still liked them well enough.

So much for them caring about the integrity of the "real Superman" like they claim to do. The "real" Superman was the champion of the opressed Siegel and Shuster created in the 1930's. That Superman has been gone for decades now and his basic story has evolved in many other ways over the years like any other icon of fiction (Ie: Sherlock Holmes, James Bond, even Batman).

Smallville, Injustice, Justice League TAS, golden age comics, silver age comics, 80's and 90's comics, modern age comics, else worlds like Red Son, Speeding Bullets and Secret Identity, the new Earth One universe in the DC multi verse, All-Star Superman etc. all feature conflicting interpretations of the character with many key differences but they all still had the "spirit" of Superman contained and were all worthy interpretations in their own right.

One thing people forget about the DC icons is their epic nature leaves them very flexible to different yet valid interpretations across all media because they are ever evolving characters and have been since the early 40's. Unlike the Marvels who stay set in their ways for the most part since the 60's. That's always been one of the key differences between both companies. Even now with The New 52 we have yet ANOTHER evolution in the creative history of Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman and Superman that is pretty distinct from past versions of those characters.

As long as it keeps with the themes of the characters 70 year history & as long as it uses elements from that 70 year history in ways that make sense with this new narrative I'll be ok. I'm not expecting "MY Superman" I'm expecting to see Zack Snyder and David Goyer's take on Superman. I just hope it does justice and is another worthy addition to the mythos in the end.

Co-sign the bolded.

Not only do I respect Waid's assessment I fully understand his point of view. I agree with many of his points as well. I may not fully agree with him, but I can definitely empathize with his perspective and anyone who shares the same sentiments upon viewing the film, especially his deal breaker moment. I have a differing perspective of it, but it's not gonna sit well with some.

I liked the movie it might actually be the best solo comic book adaptation.Only thing I did not really like was the focus on Louis Lane as usual they always have to force the lead female on the viewer.
