Man of Steel

"Man of Steel is, in many ways, the Superman movie you have always been waiting for. Zack Snyder was exactly the right director for this, a filmmaker who has an unparalleled sense of epic sweep and scope when it comes to action, and a director whose eye for extraordinary imagery is among the best of his generation. This is a movie that is majestic in tone and exhilarating in action. It raises the bar in terms of superhero brawls so high that Kevin Feige is going to have to install ladders at Marvel Studios.

But as a movie, Man of Steel limps. The storytelling is often inelegant, the characters sometimes thinly sketched, and the film’s big destruction set pieces often play like a complete misunderstanding of who Superman is." - Devin Faraci, Badass Digest

And so it appears that the Superman movie curse continues. Unless it's just the critics, which let's be honest, their opinion doesn't really matter that much. Even if it's not the critics' favorite, it could still gain a cult following among Superman fans

Two observations: even the "negative" reviews come off more mixed than flat out bad. You see alot of 3/5 ratings or B-'s/C, but you have to pick up or down on RT (and yes there are actually critics who rated it a B- and still rated it rotten, wtf?). Second, I could be wrong, but I think there's going to be a big disconnect between the critics and the general audience. I've just seen too much positivity coming from the layman who've already seen it. We'll find out soon enough.

Seems to me it's the opposite of Superman Returns which many film critics loved and most Superman fans like myself really didn't like much at all. TBH at this point I'll take a dumb action packed Superman movie over a boring one (Superman Returns).

Ok now I'm really ready for this film now dammit 3 days ugh

You're waiting 3 days to go see it?

Wow now it's down to 57% which is 20% less than "Superman Returns". Are these critics joking right now? The only reason "Returns" got good reviews cause it was homage to the Donner films but it wasn't original and it was boring, way to dramatic and lacked action. Now Critics are saying there's "Too much Action"? are you kidding? Sadly Nolan's name couldn't save Zack who critics are lukewarm on. I'm watching it on Saturday and will give my full review in my thread and this thread. I still think audiences are going to react differently than critics. This kinda reminds me of Transformers films. Critics hate them but audiences eat it up. I hope the critics are wrong cause I've been waiting years to see Superman go HAM and it seems that what this is if all the critics are bitching about "Action". Take ya'll lame asses to a drama. I've been waiting for an Action Packed Superman for the last 25 years.
