Of course established artists are gonna eat on urban radio. But if you a new artist and you don't have that sound. Then you're shit outta luck. Wait til this current trap sound phases out and it gets replaced with "can't hold us" and "thrift shop" sounding records. Macklemore is just the beginning.
Neither one of those records are a "new" sound..."Can't Hold Us" sounds like beats Danja Handz or Timbaland usta make..."Thrift Shop" sounds like some old 80's fun record...Stop it.
I'm not literally saying its a new sound. I'm saying that that Macklemore sound could be the main thing we hear on urban radio. It's a slow transition going on and it's happening right under our noses. They played Kesha records on urban radio last year. They're playing Mirrors by JT and that's not an urban song, plus Macklemore, Bruno Mars, Adam Levine etc all currently getting their music played on urban radio. Now wait in a few more years and mainstream hip hop is gonna be really pop sounding.
