"Had a spark when he started, but now he's just garbage"... he's trying to bring it back though at least in comparison to LASERS.

Mixtapes were fire, F&L was good, The Cool was above average due to the abundance of hit or miss songs, LASERS was trash, and his new shit sounds like it's going to be in between The Cool and LASERS as far as quality goes.

... I also think he's one of those rappers that fans become obsessive over. It's rare that you find a Lupe fan. Usually all his fans are stans. You hear ridiculous shit from them, like he's top 10 or he's the next Nas and dumb shit like that. Rarely do you see/hear objective Lupe fans. Lupe fans are in the same category as Em's and every dead rapper's fans. They boost their favorite artists to ridiculous levels that doesn't even make sense.

Lol at "its rare that you find a Lupe fan"

I know plenty. In fact, my sophomore year at college I was apart of the campus activities council and was in charge of bringing Lupe for the fall concert that year. Sold out the campus gym in 3 days. Ppl knew every song word for word. If he didnt have a fanbase he wouldnt have 3 gold albums. Everytime you post you contradict your damn s/n, idk how you consistently manage that.

I meant that all his fans are obsessive fans aka stans. That's why the next sentence wrote, "usually all his fans are stans.".. and then I went on and gave examples of the crazy shit they say.

They think dude is already GOAT level, despite him having an average catalog. They actually make excuses for LASERS even though Lupe himself said it was wack.

Dawg, now you're changing your point. You made a definitive comment "its rare that you find a Lupe fan"

now you're twisting it into something else. You lost.

That dude be trollin bruh. Don't take him seriously. I know a bunch of Lupe fans. He has a diverse fanbase also. 110 of my mutual fb friends like his fb page and I remember when "Im Beamin" came out, mad people on my newsfeed was sharin that song.

Dude be hella trollin, I think his s/n is hilarious.

He still too hit and miss in his career, but that's more of a trying to appeal to the masses, this dude get love WORLDWIDE...I think that speaks VOLUMES of his influence just cause what he stands for in his songs...he could of easily went the getting money way and rap bout bitches and cars like KANYE, but he didnt I respect him for that and trying to appeal to more fans to get his message out, not dissing his records but he is more of a guy with a message than a music artist and staying in one GENRE (hip hop soul) instead of expanding (dubstep, pop) would of stunt his growth ,and people don't notice that...his message is BIGGER than his music ,that's why I can see why he gets all emotional when niggas Shit on his music, cause this nigga has an actual cause and not just spitting rhymes

They don't understand...just like with conscious rap, if they don't understand the meaning behind their lyrics...automatically states their wack without any reasoning.

@nothingbuttruth I meant that all his fans are obsessive fans aka

stans. That's why the next sentence wrote, "usually

all his fans are stans.".. and then I went on and

gave examples of the crazy shit they say.

They think dude is already GOAT level, despite him

having an average catalog. They actually make

excuses for LASERS even though Lupe himself said

it was wack.

He doesn't like the album because it wasn't what HE wanted to make, it was more along the lines of what the LABEL wanted and I quote:

“There’s nothing really to tell about that record, to be honest. I didn’t have nothing to do with that record. That was the label’s record. That wasn’t like I knew the producer or knew the writer or anything like that. That was one of those records the record company gave me, [they even gave me] stuff they wanted me to rap about. “Lu continued. “I had to do ‘Show Goes On,’ that was like the big chip on the table. I had to do it and it had to be the first single if the record was going to come out. And then there’s ‘Never Forget You’ [featuring John Legend]—which is another record I had nothing to do with—which became another bargaining chip, like, ‘Yo, after ‘Show Goes On’ there’s going to be this other record that you had nothing to do with.”
-Lupe Fiasco.

Oh and let us continue to quote:

“I don’t like the process behind Lasers. The music is dope but I just don’t like the process. We were literally at the point where all this music was done except for a couple songs that we did after the protest. So the bulk of the album was done. And we were talking about shelving the album and going to another label, that’s where we were like, ‘If you put the record out, put it out. Either move on to another album or can it and we’ll do other records at another label.’ The business of it got solved. I’m happy for the fans, this is their album. This is the album that they fought for and that’s what made me do songs like ‘Words I Never Said’ and ‘All Black Everything.’

Dude is nice I didn't like kick push from how this dude broke it down to me making him the next coming but after I gave him a listen F&L and The Cool were great. Lasers was ok but how many people don't lose fans when they try something new.

American Terrorist

Just Might Be OK

He even released some of his unreleased originals from the laser album on YouTube.

Somebody break down lupes verses

What da hell is this geek talkin about?

Wu tang verses make more sense than this kids

"Just cuz you dont understand him/ it dont mean that he nice"

Basically, there seems to be no gray area with Lupe. He's either super dope lyrical emcee aka the next coming of Rakim, or he's a nerdy rebel with a wack flow.

I'm in the minority when it comes to Lupe. I see dude as an above average emcee, and THAT'S IT. He's not a GOAT, he's not wack, and he's shown glimpse of greatness, but at the same time he's had A LOT of wack shit.

In sum, his mixtapes shit on his albums. His first album shits on his 2nd album. His 2nd album was just above average, but it still shits on his 3rd. His 3rd album is recycle bin status. His 4th album seems like it will fall between his 2nd and his 3rd.

Used to like him. Not so much anymore. I don't wanna hear about tons of his political views, and what he thinks of Africa and the Middle East. What he thinks of our soldiers, of oil, conspiracy theories. Just too too much of it. Not saying he's not talented because he is. But he's getting boring
