Lupe Fiasco - Tetsuo and Youth Official Album Discussion 1/20/15

It's the intelligent calm type that are "live niggas" in real life. But I think the "hip hop" fans brains have been weakened due to the garbage that is force on them, that they find music like T&Y too challenging. Plus Atlantic didn't do their job either.

Me and my niggas was just talking about this shit. All the hype i heard about Rap God before i listened to it made me think I'd have the same reaction i had to Mural. That shit was 3/4 boo boo tho. The homies don't even fuck wit Lupe and they made me run that shit back like 6 times.

Lupe may not be deemed the greatest artist of all time but I honestly believe he can outrap anybody you put him up against. From flow to wordplay, he can do it all and makes it seem effortless.

I honestly believe it has to do with his public perception. He's outspoken and ayou know people hate anyone that goes against the grain in the matters of society. For instance (ignorant) Blacks don't rock with him because he's not a walking stereotype and is deemed intelligent. I've never undersood that about my brethren. They escew intellect but embrace all forms of stupidity by voilition. I love my people, don't get me wrong, but that shyt is sickening.

I always think of the Hov line "if skills sold truth be told, lyrically I'd be Talib Kweli" line when I think of Lupe. He would be deemed "one of the GOATS" across the board if skills was the #1 trait of a rapper, as it should be ironically.

What bugs me out the most is that some posters(on a forum where I see the world "coon" used more than any other forum or even offline) assume that lupe uses a dictionary or Encyclopedia to write his lyrics. Like its impossible for a black man coming from where he's from to have a extended vocabulary or something on his own.

Or even the misconception that we listen to lupe or other rappers like him to "learn". Counting myself, I never met another lupe fan that listened to him to learn, I just want to hear real shit and stuff that I relate to for a change. I like my ignorant shit at times But I like to balance it out. I guess on the I.C That makes me a "nerd/ geek" Btw Why the hell are grown ass men on here still using the word "geek" wtf this aint middle school, shit I never even been called that until I joined this forum lol

It's Bc people just can't say they don't like something. If they don't like it they have to disrespect it makes no sense to me. It's also awesome to go on iTunes Store Amazon and Google play store to see all the positive reviews

LOLOLOLOL it kills me when niggas talk that "Lupe is a psuedo-intellect" or "Lupe is pretentious" shit as if a black man cant be more knowledgable than the average person. Personally I always look to build my own damn vocab, why the hell not? Only Black ppl shit on black ppl for being smart I swear.

Everyone wants to be rappers or ballers. No one want to be CEO'S of a software company or a doctor. That's corny. I think it's because most black people don't have a blueprint to follow. If your parents are successful, then they are probably middle class and slightly struggling. We don't have the rich successful role models and connection all around us. If we mess up, then we have to regroup and start over. There is no bailout or redo for most of us. Then we playing by their rules too.

Just listened to the album backwards for the first time. It's a different experience but I don't feel like a different story was told or anything wild like that.

I still haven't played it backwards. I don't really see the need to to be honest

I listened to Tetsuo for the first time last night (smh at myself) and I fully agree. After listening to Mural, it's gonna be a long time before I hear ANY song that's better. Lupe is a beast and he's officially made my top ten or even top 5 list. My respect for Lupe and hip-hop as a whole grew cuz of Tetsuo, classic album

Exactly, it's all about hearing real shit with depth, lyricism and intelligence. I sometimes feel dumber after listening to a song, but after hearing Tetsuo and Youth, I feel like I've been losing out listening to so much of the trash out there.

This album is the TRUTH. I'm gonna be a lot harder on rappers from this point on, Lupe has brought so much depth to hip-hop that my tolerance for bullshit has forever been reduced.

I still haven't played it backwards. I don't really see the need to to be honest

It starts with TRON, then Maji, then Madonna, basically telling the story of birth then ending with death.

When u listen forward through, it foreshadowing the beginning by speaking on life.

I mean I get all that. I just don't see the need in doing it. I like the original sequence. It's not like the songs are different if you play em backwards

With him back on some Soundtrakk productions, I wouldn't be surprised.
