QUESTION:​

DOES LUPE GET A PASS FOR "LASERS"???

Most of the posters on this forum, as well as most of the people I personally correspond with, can all agree that this is his weakest project. However, does that take away from the quality of his catalogue or his reputation as an artist? We all know that Atlantic stifled his creative vision to an extent, causing him to put his original & final album, LupEND on indefinite hiatus.

Some also know of Atlantic's involvement with crafting singles for artists (E.G. Love The Way You Lie, Nothing On You, etc.), however, some are still skeptical to the extent that Lupe was influenced by his label. With the amount of pressure that Atlantic was under to make a pop album in today's market they apparently went overboard. It seems like the "Fiasco Friday" protest did nothing more than assess Lupe's fanbase for the label. I think that made them want a pop album even more. Can we blame him, or can we give him a pass???

why is it such a big deal that LUPE made a bad album? everybody makes bad albums atleast once. this doesn't change my view of him at all. he still gave me FNL and the cool, so it doesn't hinder my view of him as a great artist.

basically. Out of my top 10 all of the artists have made bad albums. Jay made more than 1, same with nas, kweli, common, etc. I think the bigger deal is that it's different from what he came out with before as far as the style, content, and beats. Even when jay made a bad album it was still jay, just wasn't put together as well and the lyrics weren't up to par. This shit is out of left field to me
