I hope none of you who are saying he should have been more lyrical on this song are fans of Pac. Why would Lupe spit some shit you have to decode on a song like this??? obviously he wants to reach the masses with it. everybody can't catch on to shit from him like "Took both pills, when a bloke in a trench coat and the locs in the chair had approached him here, And he clear as a ghost, so a biter of the throats in the mirror, The writer of the quotes for the ghosts who supplier of the notes to the living, Riveting is rosy, pockets full of posies, given to the mother of the deceased. Awaken at war, 'til I'm restin' in peace"...you and I can but not your casual fan. So why not keep it simple and reach more people when you have a message like this one.

I thought many of these joints were pre-made with beats and hooks and Lupe had to succumb to the pressure and spit on them so the shit would be released. Am I wrong? Did he not say that?

Cot damn these niggas are stupid in here. You can tell how many people have been following Lupe's fight with the label. Ignorance is bliss.

I thought it was a good track though, not as good as The show must go on but still good. He kept the Lyrics powerful as always and rode the beat flawlessly.

Im saying you shouldnt, break down complex and controversial issues into

one-liners in a song these issues deserves complex debates, and their really

isnt even a good/guy or bad guy in theses situations like lupe is making it seems.

You're dumb. In the song he calls out jihad and militant islamist AND Israel. How is he picking sides?

You're dumb. In the song he calls out rush limbaugh, glen beck AND the democrats prince charming Barack Obama. How is he picking sides?

You're so dumb, you're probably going to say, "I didn't say he was picking sides." But my good man, if you're gonna say he separates the topic into good and bad guys, logically he would cosign the good......

he is using hot topics to gain attention for his songs and he is no different

than the bias journalist and reporters he is claiming to despise who do the samething and

only give one side of the story.

You're dumb. Nas uses hot topics to gain attention. Lupe is not the smart dumb nigga on the block. If you actually check out his interviews you would see how intelligent he is. If you listened to his songs, you would've picked up his political nature since Lupe the Jedi or Revenge of the Nerd.

To Lupe's fans its actually not new news that he didn't vote for Barack. It was very apparent from his response to Barack's inauguration speech.

But of course you wouldn't research that. You just jump to conclusions and generalize.

It’s so loud inside my head
With words that I should have said!
As I drown in my regrets
I can’t take back the words I never said
I can’t take back the words I never said

I hear jokes like this back in high school when niggas was trying to be funny. You're not funny. And you're not dumb. How long does it take you to google search for lyrics???

well then bravo for a mainstream rap artist for creating a fucking SINGLE that encourages thought.

i now understand what ur trying to say. the name of the song is "words I never said". keyword "I". he voiced his opinions on controversial subjects that most artists (not limited to rap) would just shut the fuck up about.

like he said, silence is damn near as bad as the violence. i give him props for him breaking down these complex and controversial issues into one-liners instead of giving us complex lyrics about something simple like a trip to the mall.

not only that, props for not just giving us a BULLSHIT single about nothing like most rappers do.

but ppl will look at the lyrics, and take sides on the issues, ppl who care

about politics are the ones who should discuss these issues not ppl who think they are

informed because they listened to a lupe or nas song, ppl who get there politics from

a song are just as ignorant as ppl who get their politics from glenn beck, they dont have all

the fact, and those lines about obama were just stupid.

Im not a fan of nas's commentary either, and he did take sides,he criticized obama for not

taking sides in a foreign conflict, and criticized of bankers, for the forclosure crisis.

No he criticized obama for "not saying shit." Because in America, we see Israel as unable to do any evil. We turn a blinds eye to every action of theirs. That was his point. So not only was it a jab at Obama it was a jab at the American populace.

And he shouldn't criticize bankers for the foreclosure crisis? His line was very true. If you miss a bank payment on your mortgage, you run the risk of losing your crib. He was not wrong here. That was one of the top causes for the bank crisis. Banks were giving out fradulent loans to ppl who couldn't pay for them. When it was time to collect their money, shit went haywire. There is no side to pick....except he's on the side of the people......

As they should, but nigga I take the side of logic. And that's right every single time. So when you see somebody picking "a side" why don't you help steer them in the right direction. Oh wait, you can't and you won't. 1

1. because you yourself aren't informed enough
2. because you yourself don't really care enough to change the mental composition of the gullible

My dude, do you realize that the spark for knowledge has to start somewhere. How do you know there isn't a 12 year old kid who just listened to this song and googled information on the Middle East conflict? Why would you stifle the minds of people because they don't fit your mental picture??? Instead of saying they shouldn't discuss these issues, why don't you say, "Lupe should encourage them EVEN MORE to research world politics."

So I guess Marvin Gaye's what's going on created ignorant people? Hip Hop fans kill me.

Again, if you're not going to do something, about increasing the knowledge of those "ignorant ppl," then you are just as bad as a glenn beck.

Song is........heh..... With the song title I expected really deep or really really going in with the lyrics. It was neither, just a great song title for a mediocre track. Now taking away expectations it wasnt bad and wasnt great.

no the problem with politics is ppl get introduced to it from either a very liberal or very

conservative point of view, and once that opinion fits the worldview they only get info

from those sources look at the pro blk posters on this site, they have a valid view

but they dont have all the facts. just like tea pariers have a valid point about government spending

but they dont have all the facts. Then these one world view ppl stat affecting our politics which is

one of the main reasons republicans and democrats cant get anything done for the common good.

.We dont let simple minded ppl decide make decisions, about what drugs, food products get

put on the market why should we encourage ppl who dont have the whole story,to determine

political policy.

Rap songs don't inform me about what's going on in the world but books, and debates, and living life do though some people don't know how to get the correct information and proper facts (not opinions) so when someone like Lupe Fiasco comes out with a song talking about social issues and current events then I praise him. His song might be reaching those people and maybe motivating them to start learning about what's going on in the world. Lupe Fiasco shouldn't be responsible for forming your opinions on different subjects but I think he has a responsibility to use the art form of music to spark creativity and challenge people within the community to step their game up. Lupe has a history of doing this so I respect his work and take him seriously when he makes a song like this unlike some other people who make a We Are the World song only for PR purposes.
