I still agree with it. She ain't saying shit black artists haven't already said.

Besides nicki and Drake are trying really hard to be pop stars so they don't really represent the rest of the culture.

Black artist saying it don't get a #1 hit record it gets swept under the rug and falls on def ears.

Nah they get criticIzed and labeled "haters"

I've never listened to a full Drake or Nikki album, only the singles and shit they might play at a club. Has either of them made a classic song or album? If not, wouldn't that make the white girl right?? Again, I'd have to take yall word on it

Well, she is right, not many people can relate to blowing cash like millionaires, despite how bad they want to, or think they do.

Her argument is weak. Since when is relatability the sole criteria for one to like certain types of music/film/literature?

A lot of the pieces I like the most are things I can not relate to at all.

She has mo standing as a cave bitch teenager from New Zealand to critique hiphop.

I don't think she is making an argument, she is merely giving a statement of her opinion. She simply said most people can't relate to Drake and Nicki's music, is that not true?

Of course people can still enjoy their music, but relate? no. Drake even repeatedly says he can't relate to people in his lyrics, of course, he is addressing this to his "haters", but most people are in the same tax bracket as his supposed haters, so it's not like it's all good, lol.

“Around the middle of last year I started listening to a lot of rap, like Nicki Minaj and Drake, as well as pop singers like Lana Del Rey,” said Lorde.

well listen to something else. problem solved.

I'm pretty sure what we're watching is an image being manufactured in real-time. Her label must have told her that based on the success of her single she will now be "the anti-decadence pop star". Those tweets must have been from before she got the memo.

On a positive note maybe drake will actually be willing to battle this chick?

The bitch is 16, maybe she just had a change of heart, it happens a lot. I'm sure a lot of people have listened to some shit when they was in HS, that they wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole now.

Again, you're falsely interpreting her statements. She wasn't critiquing Hip Hop. She was talking about music about materialism and opulence in general. Again, her naming Drake and Nicki is not a shot against Hip Hop in general any more than her naming that other chick is a shot against all Pop music.

I don't get all the hate. Other rappers have been saying and making songs about this shit for years. Now some little white girl ventures out to make the same statement and it's news?

It's because she is white you ignorant motherfucker
