LMS Debate: mryounggun vs Preach2Teach: Should Washington, DC become the 51st state of the USA?

Now that this shit is over, I got some questions:

Younggun came out firing...and i was willing to concede it to him based off his initial post, but Preach came through and eloquently responded and kept at it

gotta go with Teach2Preach on this one

Preach had his moments..but his argument that taxation without representation is a lie is damn near disrespectful to the hard-working niggas of this city lmao

It was a pretty good debate actually, however I think younggun did a better job at attacking preach's angles. Preach's main stance was that it would be going against what the founding father's thought would be best for DC due to potential conflict of interest, but younggun's rebuttal was great, basically saying that there's been many things changed within the constitution since it's creation (1 being slavery). Preach didn't really rebuttal younggun's "no taxation without representation" angle well, he practically agreed with younggun by saying "the reps indeed do have limited power". Lol but I gotta give homie props for making this a good debate, being that he didn't even know DC wasn't a state.

Maybe I'm referring to a different debate than y'all. I dunno. If I'm being 100% honest, the fact that I didn't win this 3-0 is troubling.

Salute to @Preach2Teach still though because he DID get the shit end of the stick having to defend that position. And salute to @Sion and @HundredEyes also. Let it never be said that y'all ain't loyal to the cause. Y'all found a way to cheerlead this bullshit. I ain't even mad at it.

I think something everybody needs to take into consideration is that he's not from the states and is debating a US matter. I wouldn't know as much about Bosnia for example as someone from there would, so he was at a disadvantage to begin with. So the fact that he knew about our constitution , the council of DC, etc, was impressive imo. I gotta give propers when propers are due. He made good points, he just didn't attack the holes in your argument as well.

I feel you. But you're confusing a good performance with an excuse for a bad performance. He gave a shitty performance. Not being American, does he have a decent excuse? Sure. That doesn't change the fact that it was a shitty performance.

I already stated in my actual arguments why I felt like I won so easily. But I'll summarize again:

1. I gave you solid points about taxation without representation and the inability of the district to govern itself, under the current system. I then mentioned how DC becoming a state would resolve that, when needed.

2. It took you until round 4 to put together a coherent argument regarding why DC should not become a state. You made an attempt in your round 1 statement, but that attempt was poorly put together to the point that I (and likely post people, correct me if I'm wrong, y'all) had no clue what you meant.

3. When you finally did make sense in round 4, I immediately shot holes all in those argument.

I could go on but you get the idea. I would be happy to quote examples of each of these 3 points, should you want them.

So again - to your or anyone else feels you won or performed well - explain to me why/how you feel like you won, in detail, with something that makes some semblance of sense.
