Have had many discussions about this exact topic. It all boils down to lack of accountability and blaming the times and how things have changed. But hold up, the cycle all relives itself through none other but.......US. We create everything so where do you suppose the state we are currently in came from? Are they perhaps only living and acting a way that they have enabled to and having been lead by example of those who are supposed to be paving the way?

Old heads shake their head in dismay while thinking of the old days and how they were raised but how did we get to this point? Children are like a clean slate, a fresh palette, untainted. Maybe, just maybe we've contributed to much of their destruction.

And yes, my soul is type old so I admit to sounding like an old head myself but I am objective so it's a topic that's been discussed in depth with different groups of people and it tends to end up sounding like a "Battle of who to blame" when really it shouldn't be so much of a focus on where to place it but how to evolve, progressively.

I sometimes look at my own daughter and think of all the jaded adults I've come across, and I think about how all of them started out with a fresh slate. It always reminds me to take care of what I expose my daughter to................it's way too easy to corrupt a mind

the reason for this thread was from me thinking about how I have younger siblings going thru stuff right now and wondered about the kind of example I've set for them................kind of hard to judge a younger cat when I haven't even been cognizant of my influence at times

After school programs have been getting cut since the early 80's here in the DMV (DC alone doesn't have as many boys & girls clubs now as it did BEFORE programs got cut)

Reagonomics....I repeat Reagonomics happened...google it because it planted the seed to why the debt is as high as it is, the econonmy is screwed,etc.

I grew up in an era when DC may as well been Sodom & Gomorrah...

From 5th grade to my Senior year in HS...DC was the murder capital of the U.S....DC averaged 450+ bodies a year. I'm not speaking of the the DMV area widespread I mean DC itself (pop. 750,000) and the neighboring areas (PG & Montgomery Counties).

DC had the highest Teen Pregnancy rate, One of the highest illiteracy rates, High Truancy rates, Piss poor school system,etc.

Growing up I listened to the oldheads advice....when I was put in position to do the same the youngins look at me like I'm retarded or mental. Cats my age would almost got out the way to sit a youngin down or school a youngin on what's happening out here. Some listened and some didn't.

Technological advancement is a gift and curse. Advancement must happen due to evolution; but when you got youngins who want to broadcast or make every lil intimate detail of their life public then what???

If an oldhead were to say to such and such "why are you putting your business out there??" "why are you shaking your ass for all to see??" etc....then I'm hating or a hater???

As someone part of the 25+ crowd I can say that those same exact problems existed when I was growing up...those aren't new problems yet somehow the current youn generation is letting these problems be more of a hinderance than any generation before them...this generation has the most shit ever yet complains as if they have the least...so used to instant gratification that none of ya'll konw how to work for anything...so used to seeing people get famous off a 10 minute youtube video that most of ya'll feel like that's the best way to make it...the expansion of the internet/technology has hurt this current generation in terms of how ya'll interact with not only eac other but older people more than it has any other who has seen the techonology advances ya'll have had since birth...
