your both right and wrong. Kid Cudi and Kanye are products of college audiences however lil waynes sucess is more high school age group that is now getting ready to go to college. And most of those people hate kanye now and want him to go back to the "college dropout flow. Lets be honest the production was hot on MBDTF but the nigga was not talking about shit lol.

Most of waynes new audience are both white and black kids (and a few latinos and asians) who first heard waynes late 07 early 08 when he had his mixtapes and C3.Most of theese kids were middle school/high school now early college/high school. But waynes movement were ignorant dick riders from both suburbs and the hood or borderline middle class who loved his "freestyle" type rap. But this movement started as they were High school age not as college kids (the college crowd has moved on to wiz and cole).

The latest movement in rap is actually the dumb ass nigga who cant rap but we like his image movement. This includes young money, flocka, roscoe dash, and gucci (lemonade post jail sentence ). This movement cant even be blamed by rich suburban kids who no nothing about rap. Its dumb ass niggas in the hood and middle class niggas whose parents are moving out the hood but there kids wanna be hood.

LOL the only people fucking with kanye's album are college aged kids b... no one else

The last two major movements that happened in hiphop were because of the college kids, and that's Kanye West and Lil Wayne, the streets don't dictate shit no more. These mfs don't buy shit period, these college kids are the ones spreading these artist name word of mouth and buying most of the albums. Why do you think the Lupes, Kanyes, Cudi's,etc can consistently tour or not put out big singles and still maintain.

You're a good poster, but this thread ain't a good look.

How is it not a good look, it's quite obvious to me all these street niggas who the IC loves and don't sell shit haven't tapped into that college audience.

In all honesty in a lot of cases the "streets" are also apart of the college scene. Just about all colleges have what we call locals. Alotta ppl at these college parties(the ones off campus especially) are from the local hoods in the area. Even just walking around on campus you'll see alotta ppl who don't even go to the school hanging out or hunting for bitches. The soul of the streets is present in a lot universities and colleges......hell if you're a dope boy you'd be crazy not to have clientele there. Your average college student is supporting the weed man on the outskirts of campus. The streets don't have all the say but they damn sure have a strong influence

This post is not to be slept on.

Is it possible that some "street niggas" can/or are in college? You ever thought of that?

it was kinda cool that kid rappers got rich early, and then still got money and respect with hiphop. I use to think only the rappers that struggled would get love.

Peace to Diggy Simmons.

That is so fuckin' true. These white rich suburban kids are infatuated with street shit, not the other way around. Street niggas, if they choose to, can go to college because they're actually smart (well..some are).

This is true! Just coming on the I.C. made me realize this. Thats y i rarely eva post n the GNS cuz all the Threads be more so geared towards Geek niggas or College Dudes. The Reason is as close to the streets as the I.C. gets in thats saying alot. Even when you see dudes like Jeezy not getting the interest that they once did it shows that the streets arent wat they once were. Street dudes shows still sell out but who's gonna buy a album from Best Buy for $10 when u can gettm bootleg 5 for $20.

"the streets" was never the economic engine of hip hop

Naw i would say in the 80's- early 90's the streets were prob the sole "economic engine". The mainstream took it to another level in the late 90's when rappers started selling multi plat albums. Thats y u started see'n more radio friendly songs and flashier videos.

college kids were buying the Fat Boys and 2 Live Crew back in the day.

Back in the day College radio was basically the only way u even heard rap so i kinda feel u. But wasnt nobody really checking for rap like that in the 80's. I can remember sittin on the basketball court and some older niggas was playing NWA n them niggas got zero airplay yet still sold plat, the same wit 2 Live Crew. The streets kept rap alive when everybody else thought it was a fad

lol fitting, because Econ is an easy (read: BS) major.

You should've done Math/Econ or straight Math and gotten a hedge fund job or suttin.

It's not a good look because the point of going to college is to rise above the streets in order to reach back and elevate the streets. We aren't trying to displace the streets.

http://mooreschool.sc.edu/

Carolina has one of the top business schools in the nation. And anyone who calls economics an easy major has never taken a Microeconomics class. If anything I'd say an Econ major is harder than its worth.

Sorry, but unless you took an econometrics class or two I can't take you or your major seriously. Please tell me you did?
