these cats too young too remeber but L.L. fell off with that Walking With A Panther album (i liked it though).....and bounced back when he went back to his roots and got Marley Marl to produce Momma Said Knock You Out.......He rode that for a few more good albums and solidified his spot in HIP HOP HISTORY

the first rapper that comes to mind for me is snoop dogg, for those that were too young to remember snoop was the biggest thing in hip hop, he had the biggest hype ever. he dropped his classic doggystyle album and rode that into 94 with hit after hit, he then dropped the dogg food album which was critically acclaimed, so he was able to maintain his buzz for 4 years (92-96) after beating the trial outside of the tupac collabo he sorta was off the radar, then he dropped doggfather without any hit singles, and with the album being so lackluster he took a break, signed to no limit a move many questioned and dropped two more weak albums with no hits. he looked like he was headed down hill, then a move which in my opinion saved his career he reunited with dre for the chronic 2001 album, then dre worked on some of the songs for the last meal album and thus snoop had new life.

what other examples of an artist coming back after "falling off"

dogg pound dropped dogg food snoop's second album was the doggfather and folks didn't rock with that album too much

the last meal did give him new life.

Raekwon after Lex Diamond Story. He went 6 years without releasing an album and watched Ghostface take his spot as best rapper in the Wu. Rae distanced himself from RZA and tried to work with Dre and Busta Rhymes to very mixed results.

Then he started beating everybody over the head with The Vatican Mixtapes while he was cooking up OB4CL2 and came up with a critically acclaimed album that Time magazine called hip hop album of the year.

Jay Z after that Dynasty Album fiasco....

dynasty was half ass but jay z career wasn't in danger of being ja rule status.

now nas on the other hand was looking flabby and sick until stillmatic and the beef with jay z brought a renewed energy into nas career.
